Warning: MegaUpload Virus Attack

Been downloading from them yesterday but I had no problems or alerts D: nor anything going on with my computer
Avast didn't pick anything up at all
using FF with ABP

I'm genuinely curious about the Linux kernel panics--do you happen to know the distribution and/or kernel version and patchset used on the affected machines?

If your computer starts booting up but doesn't show anything but a black screen, and it does this consistently (not just once or twice but it works fine the rest of the time...

I am technically slow; so this may be a silly question. Do you mean a black screen through the entire boot up or just a black screen at some stage of the process?

Think like this, no windows at all.. not even windows logo.. just black
like beep beep! and nothing... Windows logo doesn't pop in as normally

Another "silly" question. And what if when I star my comp I never see windows logo. It's always starting like this. Just screen with my password and then it's open.

Did you upgrade your Vista PC to Windows 7? That's a common thing, and it's not dangerous.

If you didn't do that, run a virus scan. I'd need to know more about what your computer is doing and how it behaves when you try to do other things.

Well it behaves normaly so far. And I didn't upgraded it. I am scaning it every day and my antyvir program said that windows runnig normaly. But I'm still a little scared. I hope they fix it soon.

Ubuntu and its variants seem to be having the most problems. It seems the malware that's affecting the Linux systems messes with the boot image. The kernel panics when it can't find the correct image. I fixed that one by wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the operating system (luckily the affected person kept their data backed up).

At this point I don't know what patchset would be used for this. I'm going to look into it because it's annoying me as well.

Your computer is probably OK. How long was it not showing up with the windows logo? The MegaUpload problem, as far as I can tell, started a week and a half ago. If your logo was missing before then, then the viruses didn't get it.
