I believe you are right. Chp 49 is of three parts. If it is "Standing on Vessel". I believe, the first part (a) is the Kato taking Iwaki's underware as souvenire before going abroad for filming; (b) Kato in the desert shooting the movie, while Iwaki is struggling with the new company president; and (c) Kato comes back to save the day and protects Iwaki from a man-who-lost-his-marbells-gun-carrying-lunatic. Or so I think.
