GUIDE: Hide yaoi files on your pc

The simplest & quickest way I have hidden files without passwords (in Windows) was to put them in a .rar or .zip folder, and to change the extension to another common filetype. (Very similar to @Madel5566's suggestion).

The beauty of it is that in Windows, the file will appear to be whatever filetype you changed it to. So, a ".zip" folder can be made to look like an image file, a document, whatever. If somebody goes snooping in your folder and they try to open (what looks like an image or document), they'll get an error message. (Hey, they tried to snoop. Least you can do is have fun by frustrating them).

Other than that, there is nothing better than storing your files in password-protected archives, which has been covered in this thread. If you choose that, make sure it's a password you know you'll remember.

I like to "hide" my yaoi stuffs on a flash drive.
Now the thing is when people first said use a flash I laughed, I is way to pervy for a 4gb flash, sad thing is an 8gb doesn't make the cut either so I looked into getting a portable hard drive but at the time they cost too much for me, but while looking into those I found that there were also 16gb and 32gb flashes (so for those who want to use flashes but think they have way too much yaoi goodness there is hope for you)

Also I would like to add a little story to this tip for the people who like to hide their yaoi in their program files...

So a few years ago my friend and I both use to hide our yaoi deep with in the system files, and this worked for both of us for quite some time, til she started having computer problems (not caused by the hidden files) so her mom took her computer to the local computer guy who found the "suspicious" files deleted them and told her mom about them. She lost about 25gb to 26gb of pictures, videos and games! (most of which she couldn't remember where she had found them)

So moral of the story "if you going to hide files in program files back them up and delete the hidden ones before taking your computer to be fixed or else someone will find them (or just put them on removable media and don't worry)

Hope all this rambling can be of use to someone (and save all those precious yaoi files from being lost)

With me I like to hide my yaoi in a lot of folders that are mundane or I give them names that are mundane. Most people never find my yaoi unless they spend a long time searching everything.

Mac: Change the icon and rename a folder to a complicated name program. However, no one uses my laptop but me so I don't really hide it. If they do, I send them to the guest account.

Ipad: My iPad is jailbroken... so if your iPad is jailbroken, you can install a mod that allows you to add a passcode on a folder. (This could be the same for iPhone/iPod Touch.) My mom uses it so I lock my personal folders up. I don't wanna keep deleting my manga and dj. But even without jailbreak, I believe there are apps with adds passcodes to folders.

I would simply put it on removable media and put it in a "safe" place
and with the advent of 256gig flash drives ....all I can say is go for it!
but I myself do not hide anything on my PC or lappy ,,,people know they are mine
and I keep what I want on my machines....but please back up your files ...remember ALL DRIVES can and will FAIL!!

If you are going to bury a folder put a safe file in it than create a shortcut to that file ind an easier to reach place, than when you want to go to the file right click on the shortcut and click open file location

haha, sometimes I have internet problems or something and I wouldn't like anyone to find out my yaoi files when trying to fix my laptop. Therefore, I bought an external hard drive in TB's and store them. Sadly, I don't have the ones that have a password on for the external hard drive. Need to look for one. Right now, buying TB's are costing less. As for bookmarking web pages, I actually export the links and put them in the external drive. So you can say my laptop is completely free. So Happy. (just want to share my experience)
