Is it bridge or router? Do you need to dial up to connect or just turn on the computer and you are online?

Dunno, but i think recent updates to Windows at least made the use of a firewall unnecessary for me. Just the basic Windows one gets me a perfect result.

Some do, some do not.
OSX is not a popular virus target, most viruses are meant for windows and do not function on a Mac.
Don't get me wrong; there are viruses on Macs but not all that many.
Nearly all popular anti virus programs have OSX versions available; Nod32, Avast, Kaspersky.
Same goes for firewalls so just google up the product name with MAC and see what it results into.
Personally if you don't do much else than the usual facebooking, youtube, some lose forums and download some anime I would not bother with either if you're on a MAC. The bad thing is that if a Mac gets infected it locks up most likely and is impossible to cure yourself, though the fun part is that Apple support even has it in their employee policy that they have to deny any possible virus infection possibility if you call them. Though infections are not regular at all, they are pretty rare and any casual internet surfer should be fine.

What do you mean by 'going' to the site..Do you mean, if ONE CLICKS to the site, a virus is already attached to the computer or when one RUNS the program???
