Can you provide a screenshot?
Sure. I imported the smallest video clip I had. But it does the same with pictures, and that's what my project is going to be using.

The audio is working, it's just the preview that won't show. It stays black.
Have you installed a codec pack?
No, I don't think so. I tried it once before, to fix a problem with Windows media player, but it made it worse, so I stopped trying. I don't know what I'm looking for :lol:
Try removing some videos, I used to have this problem :sigh:
From my computer? There was only one video added to WMM. And when I was using pictures, I only had one up at the time :(
Did you try playing them on Windows Media Player? If you get same results, then the problem isn't with Windows Movie Maker but with the video itself. You might need to install some codecs in order to play some certain file types.
Try K-Lite Codec Pack! :)
They play, and the audio and everything is fine. But with HQ video, the actual video gets all checkered sometimes. I thought it might be a codec or something, so I tried installing one, but when I did, it took away my subs. Then when I uninstalled it, the videos wouldn't play at all D:
The one you linked won't do that will it? >.<
A lose codec pack doesn't work because the filters were not turned on in Windows Movie Maker itself. Al though why would you want the entire pack for K-lite; for WMM you only need a few.
I don't know if it will work though, I never use WMM.
CCCP - Combined Community Codec PackQuote:
The file E:\alefba\AVSEQ01.avi cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.
But I have solved it, you want to know how? ok. read below:
1-open movie maker
2-go to the tools — >optins menu.
3-go to the compatibility at the above of window.
4- at the filter box, check the “ffdshow mpeg-4 video decoder”
5- push “ok” bottom.
6-import your .avi video and enjoy it.
For the codecs.
Windows movie maker is very limited when it comes to loading in video's, it doesn't read a lot of files that other programs do. If this does not work then use a video converter.
If your subs disappear in the normal player after installing it;
If you play the video make sure subs are turned on under I think the tab Play -> subtitles
If not;

No, no. They didn't work at all after I uninstalled it. I had to restore my computer >.<
I understand that, but I'm not trying to use videos. I'm trying to make a slideshow, with pictures.... will that Codec fix the problem for pictures?
If you remove just the Trailer 001, do the other pictures 002-007 work?
I mean remove the 001 you have int he time line, add in the others see if it works.
(basing this on your screenie)
Because right now Trailer 001 is black even in the menu and the only picture in the timeline.
So maybe you made a mistake with the first one?
@KarumA;
I tried it, and those don't work either. I've tried out several different images, thinking maybe it was just the image type, but it does it with all images.
Hmm okay,
There is another thing that is bothering me, because WMM displays the "images" you imported as video files.
What is the format of the files such as trailer 001; go to the location, right click, properties. Post results?
Maybe resaving the images works. I mean open the image in an image edit program; save as jpeg or png. Name it differently, not 00number - 00 number.
You uninstalled your codecs furthermore to the films even now run fine
