How to protect file and folders

I think I once read before that you could put passwords on folders. Can you guys tell me how to do that and my OS is windows XP, if it's a factor.

    Thanks in advance

this is the thread i think (i had a subscription to it). unfortunately, as far as i know, you can only put passwords on files, not entire folders (i was using a special little program for that). but maybe someone else knows more.

If it's a shared computer with many user accounts, you should be able to password lock all your folders from the account settings and put them on invisible mode for other users

I got a program with one of my flashdrives that allowed you to place password locks on folders. I can't remember what it was called though.
However what I use now is this which works pretty well.
