Thanks for the warning. I will not download from these sites anymore but since I subscribe to Megaupload, I will still be using this site.
I did download some files from turboupload onto a pc with no virus software, wonder whether it is infected.
Anyone can suggest any free virus software to me?
Thanks in advance
AVG and Avast are the top two that people go to for a free AV
My computer has trojan in it. I tried almost all the antivirus but it's not going at all. AVG is not getting installed and avst doesn't seem to remove the trojan .my comp is giving me a complete headache everyday. I don't know what iam supposed to do.
I use Antivir (http://www.free-av.com/). That's quite popular in Germany and has securely removed everything that ever attacked my PC. It's supplied with daily updates and everything... "Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic" is the free version of it, for private use.
Thanks for the heads up *runs off to update virus definitions*. I get the sense that most of the time, the viruses/malware are due to third-party ads rather than the site owners trying to deliberately infect computers. I try to avoid going to sites that require Javascript to be turned on in order for the site to function properly because as far as I can tell, most third-party ads load through Javascript. It is not a 100% effective method though.
I don't really mind the presence of ads as long as they are not intrusive and they don't try to install nasty stuff on my computer. I really wish that there would be tougher laws on rogue online advertising because a lot of perfectly decent sites really do need ads to survive (the internet is probably too large to police effectively though).
Thanks for the warning regarding these file host sites. I'll be sure to avoid them in the future.
I have nice suggestion and hoping everyone can help me out
Would anyone mind to list out every single host site that might be spreading virus, Trojan whenever you downloading or uploading? It might help us to prevent using it in the future
In my experience, I wouldn't recommended using the following
1/. Sendspace [They automatically transfer you to some unknown site w/. full of unknown virus hiding]
2/. Savefile [Unwanted pop-ups leading to porn site]
3/. Turboupload [scariest, pop-ups and powerful Virus] I have stopped using that since last year
I'd like to know your experiences regarding to Megaupload, Mediafire, Badongo
..I currently using those
Thanks
Well, wtf, even Gigeshare, which I loved to use, has now changed its frontpage to a weird commercial, lots of porn links (no virus and pop-up though) and you have to click on another link to actually be able to upload now. That´s ridiculous. I will not be using Gigeshare now and I´m kind of mad that lots of my stuff is uploaded there when all people see now when going there are stupid porn links and have to wait and click to go to the actual download. Not funny.
I think Badongo, Mediafire are still good though. I had poker ads when visiting Megaupload and I hate their download limit, but I think apart from that they´re okay.
