Video compression?? o_O

Hi. I have nfi where to put this, so I decided to stick it in here, please move it if not appropriate.

I was just wondering how to make video files smaller, or what program I can use.

I have noticed that when I make a home video it is very large, sometimes over 700MB (Yes that is large) , is there any program I can use that will significantly reduce the size of the file, I'm not too worried about losing picture quality.

The 700+ file is about 15mins long (if time is any factor...I have no idea)

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated ^_^

I think in Windows movie maker 2 you can import avi files and when you 'save as' there's an option to type in the file size you want and it will convert it for you.

I've tried converting the file to a few different formats, but the size of it tends to stay the same

You can use any video editor/converter to do that. Choose the one you like more, you just need to configure the codecs properly.
