how do you open .rar files?? (please do not delete)

okay, its obvious that im really new here. anyways, ive always had a problem with .rar files with my other downloads, and i would really like to NOT have a problem. because .rar files are so annoying. i found a thread for opening .rar files, but that was for MAC users and i use windows.

please help??

Welcome to the the forum.

I am using Windows and I do not have any problem with .rar documents.

You should use a software like winzip or 7 zip to unzip the .rar documents first before viewing the documents in the respective windows program.

Really? I thought you had to pay to use winrar and so I avoided it. But I would really love to compress files as rar. I edit and it would be much easier on my bandwidth if I could compress psds into rars and upload those instead of zips. Rar files are just a lot smaller in size than zips. XP

You can also use IZArc, it has a similar interface to Winzip.

ow! you can download the winrar software here >> http://www.win-rar.com/download.html , after you install this when you download a winrar format you just double click and its automatically open itself you just need to copy and paste it wherever you want to save...
and ow u can also change your folder to winrar format if you installed it

Yes, someone already said the best way for opening .RAR files.
That would be 7-Zip
7-Zip is freeware. Plus is can open other formats as well. Like .ZIP, .TAR etc.

I use IZArc, myself, same as Munemasa (*waves to MK*).

However this sometimes can be problematic, as filenames and folder names starting with special unicode characters (or Asian characters, for some system setups) can give IZArc trouble. This is also usually experienced by 7-zip and the like, so if IZArc can't open it, from my experience, Winrar will be the only solution that will successfully "unrar" it, so download it really quick, unrar what you need to and then ditch it. XD

you can use winrar it will open all file extention although it says its just a trial it can be used without limit just select close when it asks you to buy it

i have a suggestion, i know this one program that extracts .rar files, it is called WINRAR. I suggest that you download this program for windows so that the next time that you ould want to open a .rar file, no problm would occur again
