Windows Updates Issues

It looks like this is a good place to ask this, but it isn't, please redirect me.

About 2 months ago my laptop went through another series of windows updates. The last one just won't complete the update, so my laptop wants to update every single day since then. Is there something I can do to stop it from trying to repeatedly install and update that is obviously a problem?

go to control panel - windows update - change settings.

change your update settings to "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them"
