My dad's computer seems to be having connection issues. He and I are on the same wifi network and my computer connects with no problems but his will not connect to the internet. I've tried everything I can think of and it still won't work. I've tried to check the lan and proxy settings but that didn't work. Then I tried to set up a new connection but it said he was already connected, which he IS connected to my network yet internet explorer, firefox and chrome, none will connect to the internet. They all come up as unable to display page, reload.

His computer is an acer laptop that runs windows 7. His main browser is firefox. We've been sharing a connection for months now, and my internet works fine (I'm using it right now) but his still won't connect his still says unable to display page, reload.

Did you check the connection IP?Is it forcing an IP or getting trough DHCP? My dad had the same problem because, at work, he used a forced IP and, at home, the IP is different.

How would I check that?

I tried the cmd and got some pings from Google and yahoo but it still doesn't display web pages once I go into a web browser I still get "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"

If you're getting pings the connection is working. Try to see if Internet Explore has a proxy, just erase it. It should be under Tools>Internet options>Connections>LAN configuration.

1. does it connects to the modem?
2. what does ipconfig /all says?
3 check the settings in Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Local area connection > Details and see if the pc is on the same LAN and has the same DNS
4 try to set a fixed ip and dns in Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings(top left)

As Munemasa Katagiri has already said, if you can ping out, the connection itself is working. In addition to what people have already suggested, you might want to check to see if an overenthusiastic firewall/security suite is blocking either port 80 or the specific browser programs.

You can also try seeing if resetting the IP address will work.

In the cmd window, ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
