I can understand that a far older model migth have some trouble software wise with Windows 7.
The compatability is mostly because software might be too old (drivers etc.).
However this is mostly resolved by the companies themselves by releasing Win7 64 bit or whatever OS drivers, it isn't much a problem nowadays.
But if you plan on buying a scanner that times out of the Windows XP era when it just came out you might have some compatability issues but those aren't even on sell anymore and/or it is added in the summary of the device.

exactly, thats what Im afraid of.... if I order newer scanner and it ends up wont able to work with Windows 7 64 bits. It'd be waste money to buy and send back. heh. I noticed HP scanners still haven't updated (new version of scanner design) however, I might be wrong though... so far Canon and Epson have compatability for Windows 7 (it dont say if 64 bits and 32 bits would be work).

I'd say the Epson one, the quality of scanning is double superiour. I am not a fan of usb powered devices (which is tha Canon), the first one is fastly superiour.

To be honest, from personal experience, unless you deal specifically with high quality print outs and designs etc its not worth buying a dedicated top of the range scanner, because the basic combo scanners have such a high scan resolution that they are more than adequate for general scanning purposes.

If i had to recommend one i'd just say any HP or Canon scanner/printer combo (or dedicated scanner if you are really dead set on it ^^) will work fine. I have a Canon scanner/printer combo, a pretty cheap one too, and i've never found the scanner to be problematic. Easy to use, good resolution and fast.

I really dont need printer. All I just need is scanner itself heh so Epson it is then.... I researched about epson, seems it has highest stars (5 out of 5) than Canon does. Well, here goes nothing.... lol

well, I ve ordered this instead of v300 since its pretty much same on everything. execpt film holder thingy. So, on shipping says, it'd take weeks to arrive... even tho I ordered for one day shipping. Till that scanner arrives and I'll start scanning my few new yaoi manga.
