What happens, exactly? It just doesn't open when you try to?
It may have to be manually retrieved. Most data retrieval programs are highly expensive and not worth the effort. I'd call a local Best Buy if you live near one and have their geek squad deal with manual data retrieval, it'll probably be cheaper. My Ipod malfunctioned on me and I had 20 gigs of music on it, it was cheaper just to download it all again because the retrieval program was 50$. I'd seriously call a best buy or the manufacturer. :/
Next time please properly explain what happens. We can't help with just "OMG IT BROKE PLOX HELP".
Is the usb not being loaded at all, is it being loaded but then as unknown device, those things are all important to know.
If you do not include such info then we can't help you. I agree with Peeper and this is just cause of the lack of information given to us by you
It wont open at all when put into the computer it doesn’t automatically open the window with the files in it and when I try to open it manually it says USB not formatted when I try to format it says cannot be formatted.

I have taken it to Best Buy they say they can’t fix it there that they will send it away to some place that specializes in fixing USBs and it will cost 150 which I will pay if I have no other choice but I am hoping I can retrieve the info myself some of it is private medical info that I need.
THANKS & Sorry about the half A$$ explanation!
If it'll cost you 150$, I'd look for another way to get that medical info. Most health insurance companies keep their people's medical info, your previous doctor may as well. If Best buy told you 150$ then they were lying, unless this is an external hard drive it shouldn't even cost half that to fix that usb drive.
And in the future, to everyone, keep paper copies of important files or upload them to a locked .zip or a .rar, and then put them in a private rapidshare or box account. Don't rely on usb drives, they break far too easily.
They're only slightly less breakable than floppy discs. :c
However, if it's RAM you're lacking I'd invest in an external hard drive. They're about the size of an Ipod and the smaller ones can hold up to 60gigs worth of disc space. They are a GREAT alternative to usb drivs as they don't break if you accidentally sit on them. They run anywhere from 60-160$ and last for years. Kmart has a great layaway plan both online and off, in 2-3 months you could have a new one by paying in about 15-30$ every 2 weeks. Most people waste that much money in a month.
