I don't agree with Shota. But what I don't appreciate in recent times is the question of whether "child-looking or child-like" characters in yaois and Shoneai mangas should be banned as well.

I think younger characters in sexual situations with other young characters can be considered borderline "ok" as long as the scenes aren't super graphic, but it becomes pedo-material when you can tell that they are targeting adults exclusively.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the appeal of shota.

You can yell at me, but there are countries who ban all yaoi because they think it's all older men raping teenage or pre-pubestant boys and I don't like that connection at all.

I agree, anime gets a bad rap in general for some of it's darker genres. I think that the more exposure that anime gets in the US might help many more people to realize that anime is more than just violent porn "cartoons."

I'm tossing in my two cents. Young characters vaguely appealed to me when I was 12/13 myself. Growing older and implications sunk in. Nowadays my tastes are changing (and i´ve discovered the joy of switching). But calling preteens hot is what I did years ago. And I think the younger characters are there to appeal to the new youngsters.
Shota is in some way just child pornography, but that didn't deter me when I was a kid myself. Nowadays I just dislike it.

And i'm also blessed with a very good imagination (and crappy recall skills of actual looks) that everyone including pre teen boys, are older, manlier and handsome in my memory.

I saw this 1 lady (30-40) hit on a 12 yr old boy...the boy was out of range to hear but i was ear shot... i slowly walked away o,o tru story D:

Yes we tend to have allotta that on this site too. But as I always say...if you don't like it, accept that other people may, and move on to what you like!
