I am not a native Texan, but have been around it enough to know some of it. Houston was my first Texas experience and it was a shock to me. I don't like Houston proper pretty much at all, but will head to like the Woodlands or something. Thanks, if I get a chance when I am up there I may check that place out.
@ SilverD - Asian people go there alot. there're good food places around. and HK 4 sell a lot of things too. though i only went there to buy musics . so youre from Dallas, i went to Dallas once to visit my cousin . it took me and my cousin 4 hours drive. so tired @Satomichan - i'm not native either. i just moved in Houston only for almost 5 yrs. i don't go around much though. i'd rather stay home with my pc but i did went to Woodland Mall though , it's pretty nice actually. you should check it out if you have a chance.
We went to see System of A Down at the amphitheater in the Woodlands and ate at Rockfish in the mall area. We didn't actually check out the mall itself, but walked around the outdoor area. The whole area of the Woodlands is so nice, though confusing to navigate through if you don't know where you are going. I used to be that way about staying at home in front of my pc. My ex had friends in Houston, Austin (we used to live in Plano), and San Antonio, so we went to see them. When I started with my husband, we went around other areas of Texas. Even still after being in Texas for 6.5 years, I haven't really made much in the way of friends myself. My husbands best friend and fiance just move to Houston, so now I don't really have anyone to hang out with here.
@kakashi0707 - i know what your talking about, when i go to HK4 i always eat crawfish when there in season and grab something from teahouse and before we head back to dallas i always grab something from lee's sandwiches for the way back i guess i've been doing the drive for so long it doesn't bother me anymore, i use to comute to school and that took 30-45minutes one way so i'm use to it
Any of you Texans going to A-Kon?
i would love to go to akon this year i have not been in like 6yrs but my money is go ing to twicon and animefest this year. *sigh*
Hey, y'all! Just dropping by to introduce myself and bump the group! I'm from San Antonio, aka the Alamo City, aka Countdown City, aka River City aka...I forgot~! I'm also 100% Mexican and full-time student at UTSA. By the way, I went to A-kon! My first big, overnight convention! So cool! So fun!
Welcome MegaMaz!! SA is nice and close to me here in Austin. Actually, I will be in SA a couple of times this month. I wanted to go to A-kon, but just couldn't afford it with the baby on the way. I have been to overnight conventions before and they are loads of fun but very tiring. Glad to hear you had a good time.
Tiring doesn't quite cut it... How much sleep did I get, really? But it was soooo worth it... I hope you get a chance to go next time!
Anyone planning to be at SXSW next week in Austin? I will be there a couple of days.
