Been to Amsterdam today with Maskelle, Toran and Lizzy. Bought some Yaoi (o.a. Constellations in my palm, which is sooo cute!). And finally, (drum roll) Grave of the fireflies! (grins happily) Unfortunately our 'usual' restaurant kind of 'wend away' wile we were not visiting... They tried to feed us with dirty knives... Yuck. :P

Hehe, well, I meant Went away. :P Spelling is not my err, strongest point. Sorry for that... And the previous owner just took his pension or so the new owner of the place told us. It still sucks since the food is crappy now, the cutlery was dirty and they did a complete overhaul on the place making it a bright lunchroom instead of the much to old shady restaurant it was before.

Ah Link, thanks for sharing that YouTube link..maybe it's one of those reasons why I love yaoi or gay men sex in particular so very much but It doesn't offend me or seems 'agressive' in any way you look at it when two guys are hitting the sack. ( don't mind my choice of words).
Whenever I see hetero sex the women are always like slaves, doing things that if my hubby would even dare ask would be castrated on the spot!
Gay sex just seems more equal to me.
Oh and those women having bodies which I didn't even posess when I was 16 doesn't help either...( and carrying a child isn't helpful too XD)

hitting the sack... kinda sounds painful when you are talking about two guys Oo, but perhaps that is just: 'my perception' ;P. And well to a certain extend it is unequal (straight sex depiction) only it would be a bit naive to say that in a gay sex scene/relation things are more 'equal' just because they are two guys. In gay sex stories (and especially in most YAOI) there is always one party dominating the other. Thought that has little to do with their sex, more with the perception of expected behaviour on the receiving side (the uke must always accept everything, simply because he is expected to 'receive', rather then 'give', if you follow my meaning)

The fact that women prefer looking at it is because it much less threatening, simply because they are both as much relatable to (in the sexual perspective.). Perhaps it is also partly the reason why striaght man love two women kissing. Women can be tender and kinkier towards another woman the man can't be; simply because their perceived roledescription is soo different from that of the woman.

Not saying I agree with it or it is in all cases just as much true. Only from what I've seen it is most likely. This of course in combination with my view of the world and the things I have learned and from who I have learned it. , This little addition being once again another result of my past (and present Oo)

And literature, movies, tv-series, and art in general (most of it anyway that is aimed at the representation of the world.) is aimed mainly on creating some universal or perfect ideal representation of what something is. Books/poetry try to describe love, sex and affection in its many forms. Movies give idealised images of relationships between people and so do most tv-series. They aren't necissarily true, just some general image that has presisted over the last few years. So when depicting sex, it is about the ideal or universal idea of how the roles should be divided. The receiver completely submissive; the 'giver' completely dominant. No subtleties, or hardly any.

In my case; well yes you three are the only ones with relationships. I have heard from some that they have sworn of all but the most platonic of relationships and Wolfje is chacing her significant other as we speak (probably has her by the hair and dragging her back to her home in the Friesland grasslands)

So Wolfje is the hair puller seme in the relationship huh. I really wonder if there are more couples on this forum, because it is so little. It's not really representative for people of our peer group, I think....

Oh well Mac, you forget the most important reason why straight men enjoy watching lesbian sex. It has nothing to do with representation and identification. Men just watch it for the porn. Why would you restrict yourself with the sight of ONE pair of breast, while you can have two pairs instead? Lesbian romantic movies are not really something straight blokes seem to be wasting their time on. Besides, porn is extremely unrealistic and put into scene. I really do not wish to see two ugly voluptuous persons banging each other >_>

I do agree that women have a stereotyped role during sex. You cannot help it that they are the one being penetrated and thus suppressed by the other partner, it is how the design of that organ functions... In Gay porn, men are also penetrated, but for women the image is less direct. One the one hand, women can relate to the submissive-penetrated-bottom-individual, but on the other hand, there is a certain distance from it that allow women to enjoy it without fully identifying with it, because it is a man afterall.

It is important to note that any form of media (literature, film pictures and so on) is not only about the representation of an ideal or universal idea. I think the other important aspect of it, besides representation, is reproduction. Books and films are images and stories that can be reproduced in many copies and accesible for a large audience. The result of this, is that the initial story that the producer has in mind, will not be how the viewer perceives it.
The media is just a tool of communication between the writer and the reader, or the director and the viewer. What it represents depends on those persons who watch the movie. For some the movie may have an unequal relationship, for the others it does not. Can true equality only be obtained when women wear a rubber strap on dildo? Or when gay men take turns o.0 I think equality goes much further than that.... Each partner serves a role during sex, nothing unequal about that....

What is said about media can also be said for porn movies. This seems to be a genre that should not receive any serious attention, because it is seen as just a product for the gratification of our lusts. But if you look carefully, there is certainly a place for personal identification (of the viewer).... It does not have to be about gender, but for example about the way in how yaoi is drawn? Does it say something about us, that we are watching cartoons of unimaginable beautiful creatures with huge poles in their pants, their bodies impossibly hairless and their estimated age nearly illegal >_> I guess, everyone has their reason to watch it, may it be serious or for entertainment. What I do know is that this post is getting out of hand >_>

Wow, that are some long posts. I think I can't say some intelligent on this subject but I do wonder if it is really that bad in a relationship if somebody is dominant over the other be it women or men. Some people do not mind to be the dominant one or the one dominated. I don't know for real but I don't think there is a real advantage being the one or the other in a healthy relationships. In my opinion it wouldn't be bad to be dominated in sex by someone if you have other parts in the relationship where you are the "leader". *A bit weird stated I know but I don't have a way with words like you guys* Like in a friendship. In most friendships the one who is the "leader" changes from time to time. This is the reason why those friendships work out and I think it's the same for love.

Oh and another thing which never stops to amaze me. We are one of the few kinds of animals were emotions and sex are so correlated. In lots of species it's just an important fact for reproduction and it isn't important how they really feel about it.

Oo well link that's certainly the easy way out Oo, blame it on the common missconception that more is better. It is a reason given for, by a general statement, never truly observed. It has no foundation at all and cannot be proven in any way! it is a trait generally attributed to men (that they think two pairs of hooters is better then one), thought it never has been properly proven (to my knowledge) and the rest of your argument, well Oo what i said :S.

And with people it was the same (and partly still is) only since (I figure) we don't have to worry about the surival of the species that much we attribute other meanings or emphasise other meanings in the sexual act (the reinforcing of social bonds) For other animals there is also a link to the social (with certain species stronger then with others) So I would not place is so easily above, or perhaps more beyond the animal kingdom
