Oh, a talk about actors who dare to play gay parts? Well Antonio Banderas is a famous one he even did several movies. I just saw one that featured Hugh Grant and there is a gay movie about poets with Leonardo Dicaprio as the seme in a sex scene. Oh and Heath Ledger of course in Brokeback Mountain if I recall it right he also did several movies where he played a gay man. From little that I know of being an actor and the whole life/entourage around it, it's sort of accepted and a big 'pro' to play a gay part in order to be sort of accepted as an allround and well- known actor. The first reason it's because that way you can show you are in fact a real actor: a straight men who takes on a gay part is THE evidence that you can act whatever and whomever you want to be. Second reason because it's a bit of a cultural thing: in the old days women didn't do the acting: only men did So they also played the part of women including erotic scenery. Like painters are expected to be poor in order to reach that 'inner muse', male actors are expected somehow to have played a gay part in the same way. That the (American) media en non-actors are a bit homophobic is a very sad fact. But if you would engage yourself in the world behind the scenes it's a very well accepted thing and gay themed plays are more common then Hollywood makes it seem. And yes Maskelle I have been watching Queer as folk and my poor fangirl heart could only love it! hehe At the hot scenes I would blush really terribly! Oh my, that's a long string of words...sorry about that ^^ Nighty night! Have to catch some sleep now... I apologize to everyone who I have not been in touch with for waaaaaay to long! Will make it up to you as soon as things will turn a bit less chaotic here ^^
So judging from your post, you made a full recovery? Yes, a busy house wife can't permit to be sick and inactive for a few days! --->>result: mass mayhem! The thing is, I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but if you first accept the fact that there is homophobia and that the Nederlands is just the odd ball out, then it wouldn't sound strange that homosexual themes aren't well accepted in general. There are very strong communities, for example christian organisation, that form a large part of minority groups in the US. Their demands should be granted too in a democracy. Sex is a taboo, so let alone talking about homosexuality. It is a full assault on the principle of a family as the corner stone of society. I find it particular strange how Brokeback Mountain was able to get so many Oscars, including best motion picture o.0 The movie had been temporarily banned in Mainland China... But then I wouldn't find it strange that Hollywood and their Oscar's (=which is a jury award and very importantly the actors themselves are voters too!) have helped to advertise Brokeback Mountain and turned it into epic proportions. After all, the arts scene which is considered to be a public space just on the fringes of society, has a large percentage of homosexuals. Look at the theatre, film and fashion o.0 I think you will definitely win the 'spot the gay guy' contest :S But I may have a very 'luguber' view on how it works there, if I say that you will certainly win a lot of happy votes from the gay community inside the arts scene when you've played a gay part.... Women have their ways to climb up the career ladder, now men are following by working their ARSE off.
Well it would be a big suprise to everyone that if you come out as a gay guy in Hollywood you can kiss all the big acting roles goodbye because it is considered 'no longer credible' for that person to play such a character (that guy from 'Shakespeare in love') They are very homophobic. And the Dutch have a lot of nudity in their movies, sixties/eighties nudity XD (just watch 'Turksfruit' and a more modern movie. Same type of nudity scene's). Thought it is hardly erotic... more plane. Then again the idea of american nudity is a guys naked back or the showing of a collarbone (that isn't 'showing skin', at least show the whole chest -two scenes in mysterious skin Oo-) Though the view you got of his ass was kinda nice ;P. And things are getting a lot less uptight in America... still that doesn't say **** (considering how it was oO). And true playing a gay guy could be considered the hight of an actors skill, however more often then naught it is not and they are ridiculed for it or people doubt their sexuality (an even greater compliment since you played so convincing they actually thought you weren't acting) Still just look at Colin Farrell, I believe it was >> Alexander. The actors from Brokeback mountain. Though it is considered a chick movie (just like QaF was and is considered a girl's serie *drools* whut ever) And I don't think it should be hidden Oo, sex is normal ppl. Everyone does it... well the majority of the people anyways (adults mind you!) why make a big deal out of it, it is natural and normal and an important part of social contact between humans and a relationship with someone you really really like :S
And euhm Link... Well busy with all sorts of things and doodling. I drew that up in a few minutes or so Oo but nice to hear you like it. XD I thought no-one noticed XD
Hehe, nice discussions. (smirks) ^^ Glad to hear you guys loved the movie as well. And yes, Link, I love the techniques used in MS as well. It's much more an art house movie and I think that makes it better since it doesn't have to be politically correct (dealing with child abuse and homosexuality is quite a taboo in many countries, and it's quite explicitly shown in this movie). Also, I think because it didn't have to be mainstream material anyway they could spend more time creating a certain atmosphere. (sighs) Sorry, I just think it's a very well-made and gorgeous movie. ^^" And yeah, QaF is nice. Funny that you mention adults, Mac, since one of the main characters in QaF is a 15 year old boy having sex with a 29 year old. ^_- P.s. I once watched Turks Fruit and fast forwarded al the sex scenes and I was left with 20 minutes of actual movie. Sorry, that's really not my kind of thing... >_<"
For those who haven't seen it yet, have fun watching mysterious arse, ehrm skin...: YouTube Lol everything that every one does, is per definition called normal... but that doesn't mean it has to be explicitly displayed on the white screen o.0 I find sex kindda private that you share with the person you are with....compared to you Mac, i feel so conservative and old fashioned XD
lol and that is true about QaF , but that is fiction. And I was more talking in the direction of pervy people who want to have sex with minors who don't want it. Not a yaoiistic phenomenon in a tv series. (and the guy who plays justin is soooo not 15 there.) And Link I'm not saying you have to **** in public, I'm just saying be less uptight about it Oo, it is a part of life and of love (note both, not just sex) and if you tell a story about a love relationship (geeh golly wiz, look link there it is again Oo) you should not hide it or pretend it doesn't happen, yet show it properly and without shame cause it's normal. And I'm not someone who watches porn all the time, jerks of when he isn't writing yaoi and thinks only of jailbait and yiffing
Lol thx for clarifying that, i was thinking you were busy hanging out in dark rooms and wondering around at sex parties getting bukakes all over your face and so on..o.0 Well, maybe it's only me, but whenever there is a sex scene on tv, I have a horrible feeling of shame XD Remember the time in Nijmegen when we watched sensitive Pornograph and all of us (yes, not only me) was watching the door to see if someone was coming in. Whenever the door slams upstairs everyone turned their heads to the door.... Yes, well it's normal alright, but it makes me feel so naughty and dirty when I see it :S
Haha, naughty Link. :P Neh, I guess that can be considered normal as well, eh? Most people (at least the ones I know including myself) have at least a little of the 'ow gosh, that's sex! Blush everybody!' thing. (grins) But I do think it depends on your upbringing and the type of person you are how open you are and how you react to explicit situations anyways... Or something like that. @Mac: You don't? ^_- I always like the 'fear the quiet ones' line. So then that would mean your pretty innocent, eh? (hehe) And I like that supposedly 15 year old actor. I read somewhere that he was 17 when he started the part. With parental permission. O_o That must have been interesting... 'Mom, I need permission to act in quite explicit gay sex-scenes with an older guy for a tv4 series'. Oh, I can imagine those faces... ^_^
:P, well with such a boy, who would say no? Share that beauty with the world, I say. And euhmmm... no not really I don't have the 'oh my gosh, sex scene: blush!' thingie. Oo I'm more of the 'oh, hi... well don't stop on my account, just passing through' kinda attitude. And innocent but of course! soooo innocent ¬¬. Think about what I do say, then imagine what I must be hiding :S
