ack damn it how could i have missed this?! ok i think its because i wasn't all that interested in tousen back then so i kinda skimmed it and basically ignored it he was a boring character to me ... i was distracted by byakuya

this is a flashback in the manga that took place around the time when tousen was using bankai to fight kenpachi (before we knew he was also one of aizen's men) ... it wasn't totally animated for some reason, they only included some small bits of it even though it gave a lot of insight into his character

the woman is buried in that unmarked grave where shuuhei and komomura occasionally meet (its the one with the wooden block). it gives tousen major motivation to join aizen, especially if aizen uses really sweet words to entice him. he already bears a grudge against shinigami, if aizen told him that he plans to punish shinigami, then be would have as much to gain from working for aizen as aizen does having the only blind person immune to his zanpakutou working for him.

damn i keep re-reading the manga even though i should be doing homework there just seems to be more stuff to notice everytime, and the more stuff is revealed the more the past chapters are also interesting

bleach guys are just so unlucky, so far all the mentions of love interests have died - ichigo's mum, ishida's mum, byakuya's wife, kaien's wife (and also kaien), and here's tousen's love interest being killed unnecessarily. will no-one find happiness? or are they all destined to be gay?

i think they are definitely destined to go down the gay road...

Yeah I've never understood why the anime actually CUTS things from the manga story line. Why? How can people who only watch the anime ever understand? I mean the anime is constantly catching up to the manga, so why cut part of the story? I mean when you read Tousen's back story it actually make some sense on why he voluntarily went with Aizen, but the anime never explained that. It just perplexed me no end.

And if they cut the rest of the information on Grimmjow when they go back to the main story line all they're going to do is piss off a WHOLE bunch of people. But honestly I can see the anime doing just that because trying to transition back into the manga storyline would be a hell of a lot easier if they did, especially considering the way they ended it with Ichigo and Orihime holding hands. That was such a WTF moment. But i digress...

I just get really tired of the anime changing and cutting things from the manga. It always ends up screwing something up later in the storyline.
