My guess is that it will not reveal itself in the Naruto-Pein-Konan fight.
But afterward, when they have to face Madara...

probably a trick to avoid his sharingan. or the secret behind his sharingan. as its claimed hes a god cuze he took his brothers eyes and cannot die. itashi must have found out a way how to, or the weakness of it.
