    Everyone starts somewhere, so a few things to keep in mind:


    • Keep your hands, tools, and working area clean when not in use
    • Wash produce thoroughly before handling
    • Avoid gesturing with blades in hand - it's dangerous!
    • Wash hands immediately after handling raw meats to avoid cross-contaminating surfaces
    • Be aware of porous surfaces and materials that may harbor pathogens
    • Ensure your kitchen is well-ventilated when cooking noxious ingredients
    • Update smoke detectors or fire extinguishers regularly
