    About torrents/playing files...

... I've downloaded Junjou Romantica episode one, but my computer (an iMac) can't find a compatible program to play it on. Do I need to download torrent software so that my computer can read the file, or is there another program (like Windows Media Player or something similar) that could play it?

    Arigatou!! *bow*

Nah you just need a Mac compatible codec, whats the file type of the video you've downloaded? avi, mpeg, mp4?

    .avi.torrent

that's why I was wondering if there was torrent software I had to download. Should I just find something that can read .avi files?

Yeah, im not to familiar with iMacs but there definatly should be some players around that can handle it.

I've just tried opening up an AVI file in quicktime and cos i didn't have the relivent codec it took me to the Apple website where i could download the mac version for my file so maybe you should try that.

Open your .avi file in quicktime.

You should have quicktime on your Mac as its Macs version of Microsofts Windows media player and is installed by default.

Hmm... odd. It says "This file is not a movie file" when I try to open it in quicktime. Do you think Realplayer could handle it?

Realplayer is this generations bug player, if you have it on your mac i'd get rid of it...

If you have MacOS 10 or higher then:

Download and install VLC player on your Mac, VLC can handle anything.

    Link: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

Read all the information on that page carefully, pay particular attention to the orange box in the top righ hand corner. It tells you how to install vlc on your mac.

UGH!! Now it won't let me open the file in VLC... *cries*

... and when I finally got it into VLC, it wouldn't play. o.O Mmkay, I'm going to look for anther download of the file that ISN'T via torrent. maybe that'll do the trick.

An avi.torrrent file isn't the movie itself.
You will need to open the avi.torrent file with a torrent program compatible to mac. Then you can download the real .avi and watch it with a video player like VLC.

And please edit your last post instead of making multiple posts one after the other, this is considered spamming in this forum.
