IDM - No more invalid serial errors! (Please sticky!)

Hey! Here's a way to get a perfect working version of Internet Download Manager 5.14 - free of those 'Invalid Serial Number' errors that plague us all!

Please NOTE: this is ONLY for after the trial period of IDM has expired & you get this serial number error!

Don't be put off by all the steps - I've elaborated quite a bit so hopefully most everyone will understand - for most of you it'll be a breeze.

So without further ado, please follow the instructions below!

Step 1.
I've uploaded version 5.14 + keygen (that generates the serial number) to a few different places - so begin by downloading it from ONE of the links below:

Step 2.
Uninstall any versions of IDM you already have on your computer (during the uninstall process you can choose 'default' to keep any existing/uncompleted files for the version you're about to install).

Step 3.
go to c:/windows/system 32/drivers/etc/ & right-click on 'hosts' file.
Choose 'properties' & then check the 'read-only' box in the window that pops up. click 'apply', then 'ok' (This allows the 'hosts' file to be modified - otherwise it can't be).

Step 4.
Right-click on 'hosts' file again, choose 'open' and then select 'notepad' from the list of programs.
At the bottom (below the last line of text), add the following:
127.0.0.1 www.internetdownloadmanager.com
Then save the file & close it (it should be saved as a regular text file).

Step 5.
Delete the other 'hosts' file (that you originally clicked on), or if it makes you feel better, just move it to another folder [if you want to put it back in future, though it's really not necessary].

Step 6.
In the regular Windows window, click on 'Tools' then 'Folder Options' then 'View'. UNcheck the option that says 'hide extensions for known file types'. Close the window.

Step 7.
Right-click on the modified 'hosts' text file & click rename. Delete the '.txt' part of the filename (After this follow Step 6. again, but check the 'hide extensions for known file types' option).

Step 8.
Restart your computer.

Step 9.
Unpack the .rar file you downloaded at the start of this post (there should be 2 files inside - 'idman514' & 'dr.carbon_Keygen') - install Internet Download Manager 5.14 (idman514) from it.
As usual you should get that 'invalid serial number' error again, and after closing that - the box asking for your name, email & serial number. Leave that box open!

Step 10.
Start 'dr.carbon_Keygen'. The information shown in the program should show up in the box left open in the previous step (if not, try clicking 'generate'). 'Ok' it & close the keygen program.

Step 11.
Internet Download Manager should work fine now, without any of those annoying Serial number errors!
You'll need to restart your computer for it to catch links from your browser though, so do that.

aaaand.. VOILA! a fully working, sparkly IDM!! ENJOY & happy downloading!
