How do you make AMV's on a MAC? [help recieved]

My PC fried. So I bought a Mac instead.

Now, Mac's are supposed to be great at design...but only if you know how to use them. xD

Now I can't even do something as simple as making an AMV. =(

Is there a movie editing programme available on default? iMovie appears to be about making your own movies...can you edit clips in it?

If so, what filetype does a movie file need to be? (avi, etc) I remember downloading an episode of something before but I couldn't open it anywhere.

Perhaps there is easier Mac-compatible video editing software available that I can download? :/

Perhaps someone knows of an AMV making tutorial on a Mac as well? :/ So I don't waste too much of your time. :P

MAC is the best computer to edit videos.
I have a friend who's a MAC fan, I'll ask him the name of the video editor that once he said me was the best.
