For my amvs I use Sony Vegas 6.0, which in my opinion is one of the best programs out there for video editing. You can find out more on the product @ http://www.sony.com

and another good on is adobe premiere and after effects, find out more at:
    http://www.adobe.com

But I wouldn't recommend using free stuff that comes on your computer, like Windows Movie Maker (for pcs) and iMovie (macs). They freeze a lot and have very limited options.

I absolutely love Pinnacle Studio, but it's a little expensive. The only other movie maker I'm experienced with is iMovie, which did perfectly fine for me. In fact that's how our school's news report is made, so it works fine if you have a mac. But you have to constantly save so you won't loose your work, but I would suggest that with any program.

Hm, this seems like a good place to ask a sorta-similar question.

I have an extreme dislike of subtitles in music videos so, obviously, I don't want them in my own, and, while it's easier to get raws in this day of bittorrent, it's not always the most simple thing in the world.

However, more and more videos are being released in .mkv format nowadays. Windows Movie Maker automatically embeds subtitles from .mkv files, and I can't find a way to make it not do so. Do any of the non-free software programs have an option to not include subtitles from .mkv files?
