What video editors do you use?

I did a search for video editors and came up with nothing, so I made this thread to ask...what video editors do you use? I'm trying to look for a free editor to download that is easy to work with but also flexible...mostly for AMVs or just video editing. Windows movie maker isn't very compatible with my laptop so...I'm just wondering what good programs there are out there that exist besides WMM. Thanks!

Hm, I use WMM *lol*
But there are programs, which are better for amvs, like Magix Video Deluxe 2006/2007. -> on ebay about 25 € - new!

What type of editors are you looking for? I re-encoder or one that edits and burns VCD, DVDs?

I use both Roxio Media Creator and Nero for the 'Big' projects like converting .avi and .mpg to DVDs or transfer DVDs to .avi .

For re-encoding, say changing an .mpg file to a Divx, Xvid or .avi I use IMtoo, though a lot of people use TMPGenc

All of them have their good features and downsides. IMtoo works really well with Vobsub (subtitles) while ffdshow (subtiles) works best with the TMPGenc

These are really good encoders, but for advanced video editing and burning I really suggest Nero 7 or Roxio Media Creator 9

I invested in all of the above programs and I haven't regretted a single one of them

Programs are very expensive if not free ware or shareware (ffdshow and SubVox are both shareware) but if anyone is interested in IMtooMPEG encoder, Roxio 8 or Nero 7 I'll see what I can do help you keep the costs down

^ I think he/she means a program to make movies, not just re-encode and burn them.

Sony Vegas is pretty neat and has many additional features that Windows Moviemaker doesn't have. Plus it doesn't make the computer hang as much as Moviemaker. The cream of the crop is probably Adobe Premiere but I find Sony Vegas' simpler interface more appealing.
