I need to password protect a folder in Windows 2000 to keep it in "read only" mode.
Is there any way that this is possible?
Thanks in advance to anybody that can help me with this.

2000 is pretty simple for psw protecting as long as you are an administrator. but if you are hereis how its done. on the file or folder you dont want anyone else to see you R-click properties tab to security you will then see a usergroup of name that have access to see the folderall you have to do is delete all the other users except youself and then your login is the onlyone that has access to that folder. if you want to individually psword protect each file you need to encrypt contects to secure data which is also found in the properties general tab at the bottom click advanced then check
-encrypt contects to secure data- then details from there its pretty self-explainatory to set the password. hope it helped
