SO does that mean to play mkv file I need to download Matroska Splitter?
Thanks Alek_31 I'll try it ^__^
Silvis : With Bsplayer, I had to dl the codec (Matroska splitter) in order to watch a .mkv file, http://www.cccp-project.net/
EDIT : It seems I have no chance with players other than BsPlayer. I tried to play mkv and avi file but it was always jerking

SO I have to download CCCP then to read mkv file?
The FAQ for it is a bit confusing
Hmm... But VLC doesn't work with every .mkv file. I tried one just yesterday and the subs didn't show up. So I switched to CCCP, which works perfectly (though the user interface sucks).

hmm.. I'm not sure if yours was the case I'm about too mention but another thing about VLC that I LOVE is that you can turn subs on and off (dependent on the file) and also switch audio tracks (dependent on the file).
It plays just about any file (except rmvb), and avi files with problems I can always play on VLC. Another plus is that you don't need to dnld any codecs. Or, I least I haven't.
Nice and simple is the way I like it, but it's all personal preference. ^^
So far VLC plays the avi files I already have perfectly. Will next d/l some mkv files to see how that works
Even though many ppl recomend VLC, I just couldn't make it work with mkv files, it just won't open(not the sub won't show but can't even open)~ K Lite Codec pack works instead but it's kind of laggy at the end of the video somehow, either it is my pc or it's just not suitable~
i maintain that the official MKV splitter (Haali) is very sub-par compared to Lazy Man's MKV, but it does have nice tools, so if you don't get with VLC then get Lazy Man MKV.
Anyways, if yo uplan on doing anythign beyond watchign you do want to dl the codecs (K-lite or Cole2K packs are both good)
mkv files are working perfectly!! I'm going to consider this one SOLVED. Thanks, guys.
EDIT: Spoke too soon. VLC is a mess. It locks up, and randomly causes my computer to restart. This is almost not worth the hassle! Grrrr.

Awww... ArtemisMS... *huggles* Maybe you can try CCCP if VLC continues being an ass. It's fast to install and no problems for me so far.
soubi> Yeah, I know about the turning the subtitles on and off function. But the thing is, the .mkv file that I was watching is just not suitable for VLC. Even the fansub group said that in their FAQ. ^^;
