Corrupt image files

So I have been noticing this issue for a while now. When I try to save an image file, it will come up corrupted. I have a folder with images I am trying to save from my contest and half are coming up corrupted so far.

I will get the message when I try to open the file,
"Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because the file appears to be damaged, corrupted, or is too large."

Sometimes if I restart my computer and try to save the image again, it will work, sometimes it won't. I have searched for a fix and just can't find anything.

It happens with both jpg and png.

I am using Windows 7.

Changing the file ext (like .png to .jpg) doesn't work. Restarting doesn't always work. Trying to open it up in a different program doesn't work. I will try to save it to my external drive and to my computer directly and it doesn't work. Changing the file name doesn't work.

This is a photobucket issue as far as I've noticed >_>

Try to right click on the image, select show picture and then save it. This way the images will save properly.

Thanks I will try that. I found out that using a different browser is working so far too. Firefox was what I was using and trying it out with Chrome now (I was having a duh moment apparently and didn't think of the browser).

Try to right click on the image, select show picture and then save it. This way the images will save properly.

And just tried what you suggested and it didn't work still...

I was able to get it working with Chrome and have all the images now. It'll be a pain since I hate Chrome but oh well. Thanks anyway

I did a quick research on the issue, not much is mentioned, at least recently.
Firefox is compatible with Photobucket only with version (3.6x)

Now, there is always a possibility that you have an add-on on Firefox that can create issues. But, basically, your downloads with Firefox are either stopped before completed, or the links are incorrect. There seemed to have been a lot of issue until last year with the coding of photobucket links in Firefox, perhaps it is related.

Now, just in case, you can try to run a vanilla version of Firefox to see if it works or not (there are ways to deactivate add-ons without uninstalling Firefox).
