how to extract an image from a video?! [SOLVED]

I am sorry if the thread exists already
Somebody please tell me how to extract an image from a video file [.avi/.ogm/.mkv]! which media program can do it and how? I tried with Window media player and Core media nothing comes out >.<;;

Try Cyberlink PowerDVD, it has its capture function with a shortcut key of <C>.
Just PM me if you needed it, or if you can't find some.
I'll upload it for you.

If you open an AVI or MPG file in Windows Media Player, just click CTRL+I and it will ask you where do you want to say a JPG version of it (same resolution as the original video file)

not sure if you needed another help but is it that when you wanted to save an image to paint, the image is blank? and then it's still moving in the paint window after you press play on the player? i got that too last time. i did a quick google and i found out how to solve that. you only have to change one thing in Windows Media Player and you can screencap from all other type of players.

here's how to do it~
1. open windows media player. go to 'Tools' and then 'Options'.
2. uncheck the 'Enable support for video device' box under Player Settings(which is the default pop-up that you'll see) if it is checked.
3. you can screencapture now ^_^

That is true. However, when you go to paste the screencapture somewhere, most times it will not show the part of the video you captured, where the video was supposed to be, will be blank. That's the problem. ^^; { And that's due to the fact that even if you use VLC, WMP, etc etc... the videos are protected ones. Usually no matter what type, and no matter how it was ripped and created. It won't let you simply screencap with that button the majority of times... }

As a suggestion... BS Player lets you screencap if you download that. And it's just a really nifty program to use anyways. But if you get BS Player, simply pause it where you want to take the screen, right click anywhere on BS Player and highlight options, then highlight capture frame and choose which size from there you want it. ^^~
