.flv video not compatible with window 7 ultimate??

I like to download videos from youtube that as we know most of it is in .flv format. the problem is about 3 months before i upgrade my window 7 from basic to ultimate. since then whenever i open folders containing all the .flv videos my window explorer abruptly stopped working.also, i cannot delete those videos even if i want to, when i try to it will just show "preparing to move to recycle bin..." and it will be in that condition for an hour or so, so i give up. it also applies when i tried to move the videos to different location, it won't budge. the best i can do is copy the videos and the original one can be deleted by luck, if lucky i can delete one but only one video. if i open the folder too long and then try to go to another place, my system will be messed up, the files cannot be read, the disk cannot be opened, until i am forced to restart the computer. the same also happen if i try to rename the .flv videos or the folder containing them.can anyone please tell me what is the problem and how can it be fixed? please!

the flv extension might be registered to some program that interacts with it whenever you open a folder.
Though that would be really stupid XD

I don't know if these would work with windows 7, feel free to try:
First: Start >> Run >> msconfig and remove all the unnecessary programs that are under "startup"
Then: Start >> Run >> services.msc and stop all the unnecessary services and disable the automatically start option from them.

Uninstall all your video codecs. And install K-lite.

Is this thing happening right after you turn on the computer? Without starting any programs? (this includes browsers, media players etc.) Try to go to those folders that has flvs, with a newly opened computer (don't start firefox, ie, winamp, etc.)

Is your download manager open when you're trying to access to these files? If it is, close it.

This program would work with windows 7, it could be the best solution to understand the problem. (If you decide to install this program) after installation simply go to the folder that has the flv file and right click on it. Then choose unlocker and if a program is blocking the flv file, it will show.

Well, hopefully you could solve your problem with the above mentioned method.

Yet, I admit I had to do the real hardcore stuff last summer. I had to buy the full version and since then my Laptop stopped crashing, slowing down, losing data, freezing, black & blue screens and turning my head into a mess.

The problem had been the Upgrade version. Every single time for instance I updated the Windows Update downloads and installations or trying to watch videos (especially mkv), converting those my Windows Explorer crashed and the only thing to get back on track had been 'pulling the plug'. Samsung Support even took it back twice and then they called me and explained that the Upgrade Version of Ultimate is causing the troubles.

Well, the funny thing is they didn't had any kind of problems after resetting the complete Laptop back to W7 Home Version .. it has been the Upgrade to W7 Ultimate which made the whole Laptop struggle and break down all the time. My IT Specialist told me 'Never buy a Upgrade! Get the real Version!' Since then my PC & Laptop work fine and that's it. Stupid but true.

I'm not sure..but is this just a problem with opening .flv files? I use vlc player for everything, and I'm pretty sure that player can open just about everything. Not really sure what your problem has to do with upgrading from basic to ultimate though, sorry :<! I just know that vlc is nice to use >_<

its not because you have windows 7 ..... for the most part windows does not support .flv files ...simplely get a .flv player for windows if you do not have cccp or k-lite codec pak installed either one will play .flv ....if you don't want to install anything at all you can actually find stand-alone(non-installing) players for .flv .....a simple search will turn up quite a few

I don't think OP's problem lies with using the wrong player, since he/she mentions that whenever the folder containing the file is opened the entire thing will crash and other more concerning matters that have nothing to do with the player of choice.

And seeing OP never came back I think he/she either went to get professional help or figured it out some other way.
