My Windows Vista thinks it's a pirate...

Yup. It does. I'm not sure why it happened, and this has NEVER happened to me before. When I turned on my computer today, I got a black screen and on the bottom right corner it says, "This copy of Windows is not genuine."

Uh, what?

I got a prompt telling me something about reactivating, then it says, "The Window's Vista Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation." It then gives me the following options: Buy a new product key, type a different product key, and contact someone to help solve the problem.

I'm unsure what else I can tell you. Does anyone know what I could possibly due to resolve the issue? o_o

EDIT: Oh. When I enter the product key manually, it tells me my copy is genuine, then sends me to the website and tells me I can get downloads or whatever.

If you have a legit version of Windows just call customer service.

1. Are you sure you didn't download or install the trial?
2. Did you try and re-enter your product key? Comes int he booklet.
3. If it is a laptop, you don't have the booklets and the laptop is not that old AND the software is legit and not illegal call up the customer service there.

Customer reason exists for a reason.

My copy is legit. AND I just solved the issue. I re-entered the product key and rebooted. Worked on 2nd reboot. Sorry, for the inconvenience, but thanks for the advice!!

Windows vista has a rebellion problem. I enter product key with internet disconnected to avoid this. But it might still refuse, in which case I have to try several times to get it through.
