Problems with USB port

My Dell Inspiron has 3 USB ports and I would normally use just one of the three for most of the things that I need to connect to my computer ( external hard disks, printer, mouse, keyboards).

For some reason, I've tried using the other two usb port today and they are not functional. My computer couldn't recognize any of the devices that I plugged into the USB slot.( I tested them using 3 external hard disks, a mouse, a keyboard and a printer). Only the one that I normally use is functional. Is there anyway to fix this? I'm really worried that it might be a port issue.

Have you try updating the drivers?
