Problem with mobile phone memory stick

Hello!


Yesterday, I bought a SanDisk memory stick for my mobile phone. The problem is, when I insert it in the phone, I get a message that the card needs to be formatted, and then it doesn't even read the memory card. So I go to the company's site, and do as they say, and format the memory stick through the PC. Even when I do that however, when I put it back in the phone, I still get the "needs to be formatted" message. And I can't format it through my mobile phone, because it asks me for some weird password (I tried all the passwords that came with my mobile, nothing works).

Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know what to do? Maybe I'm doing the format through the PC thing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks for that link, but unfortunately it doesn't work. I found the code that I need to insert in order to format. It does the formatting, and then gives me a message "Format has been completed". I turn off the mobile phone and then turn it on again, and it's the same thing again. It doesn't even read the card, but it tells me that it needs to be formatted.

Try updating the phone's hardware. If all else fails, try a different brand for a memory stick.

Thanks Labrador! I will try to see if I can do a software update tomorrow, I'm giving up for tonight.
I don't want to buy a new card, since I'm afraid the same thing might occur.

My sister had the same problem as you,so I asked her some help,when she bought her MicroSD card,she tried to format it,but it didn't work,so she tried several times to format the card through the phone,finally after 4-5 times it worked....maybe if you try one more time....


or maybe the card is simply not compatible with your phone....

I've tried it at least 3-4 times already Maybe it's as you say and it isn't compatible, even though it should be.....

What a trouble. Thank you for your help though


Edit: Hmm, I even tried putting it in another mobile phone, still nothing. Maybe it's a faulty card?

Are you sure your phone can handle the size of the card? Some phones can't handle big cards.

It's a 2 GB card. According to the Sony Ericsson site, my model (W660i) can handle up to 2GB. I think it has to be the card's fault, it doesn't work on any Sony Ericsson phone that I tried.

I've given up, I will take it back to the store. I don't have high hopes that they will change it but oh well...

I suggest you to go to the place where you've got your phone or any place who sell mobile phones to ask which card brand would be compatible with your phone,maybe they will be able to help you...
