Jail Broken Ipod touch Help!!

Help please, my cousin's Jail Broken Ipod is basically stuck on the menu screen. All it can do is play music (double clicking home screen to play music) and tell the time. You can't click on any apps shift through the pages of apps.
Also another major problem is has this "No Result" screen frozen in place whether you're on the home screen or just...?background screen?

we've tried resetting it, with holding the on/off button and then with the home button+on/off button together.
And tried hooking it up to Itunes... nothing =(

You probably bricked it. :I

Try this, if it doesn't work search through youtube a few times. There are alot of people who can help, unfortunately there is a limit to what can be done depending upon how bad you bricked it or if your hardisk was damaged. Pray that it's a simple brick.

Describe the steps you took to jailbreak. Why don't people keep on playing pinnacles instead...
