Recommended mp4 Video Editing Programs?

I kept looking around online, and wasn't sure how to narrow down my choice of video editing for a certain mp4 file, without ruining/reducing the overall quality of the video. It's wide-screen, and I'm afraid my attempts at editing the clip would make it not. Any recommendations?

What are you trying to do editing it?
It all depends on what your plan is.

First off some explaining with editing mp4 in case it is a movie or episode of some sort. Sometimes fansubbers or even raw providers use codecs that not every editing program can read. You can find a way around it and if it does work then the editing program makes temp files which depending on how many videos take up a lot fo disc space. (I tried editing 4-5 mkv files once that took up 60gb of hard disc in temp files though with .mp4 files it is a lot less that is needed and in many cases it can be read, the chance of codecs not being able to load is small)
If you want to use multiple mp4 videos to make for example an amv then prepare yourself with some extra discspace.

Other addings, quality can never be reduced when you edit, it then all depends ont he settings you enter yourself. You use wide screen then your made project must be wide screen. If you then fear about quality loss then your rendering settings that make a new file should be top notch set.

Like I said it all depends on what you want to do, some things might not even need a video editing program and can be done without converting the file or hardly converting anything.

I can give you a list of proper editing programs but be aware that they are used proffesionally and it might take a while to figure out who/what/where specially for rendering.
What I use personally is Sony Vegas Pro
What I have used in the past is Adobe Premiere but eventhough it is friendlier to those first time editors the render settings are sometimes hard to understand, Sony Vegas has this easier.
On a Mac you have Final Cut Pro.

But like I said it depends on what you want to do, so why don't you add that first to see what you really need.

Hihi, thanks for responding! I was only looking to flip the video (or mirror it). I guess I only had to consider the wide-screen perspective, but wasn't sure which ones would have it or not (the only program I've worked with before was Windows Movie Maker).
