Help, Sims 2 Question!

Err....can I ask this here since it's about game and it's not BL though....and it's about how to in Sims 2 I know this is kind of off topic from yaoi but I can't find the solution at all orz

so apparently we all know we can paint a Custom Painting in Sims 2. It is said to put the picture we want to use in My Docs/EA Games/The Sims 2/Paintings. Okay, I can't find the folder Paintings at all. I created one and put the pics, but they're not showing in the game.

I installed The Sims 2 Deluxe (with Night Life included) and Apartment Life. Umm...help please?

Basic questions are:

Is your game updated? (Do you need to install any patches?)

Have you removed the all the cache files and contents of the "Thumbnails" folder?

If you need to reinstall because you didn't patch your game, be sure to make a backup file of your game first, leave it on your desktop or something, then just replace the pertinent files, such as your downloads and neighborhoods.

I did a quick check at MTS and I only found the pudding face tutorial. Sorry.

I think it is updated (the store clerk installed it for me and I was away at that moment)

I've cleared the cache and thumbnails and they showed up, but only 2 out of 11 pics I put. Are the sizes should be resized to fit to make them all appear? Because the ones which are not shown up are in wallpaper sizes with more than 1000px wide oAo

I am not sure but the pictures might have to be jpeg in order to work and for those wallpaper sized pics I would surely resize them because remember they are going to get squashed into a smaller surface, it might be that it doesn't work because they are too big but they would also look horrible (squashed pixels are never fun)

Any jpg image will do but this is a Seasons feature, I don't know if works if you don't have the Seasons expansion pack.

It's good that some of them are showing up.

I looked at mine; the ones that came with the game are 156 x 243 jpgs and the custom ones 256 x 442. I put in 12 that someone had uploaded at MTS2 but apparently there's space for more since my game has 15.

It's been a while since any of my sims did any painting, but I recall that what shows up is based on the skill level of whoever's painting. Are you testing it by having sims of different skill levels paint?

For future reference; always clear all the cache files and thumbnails folder before you play the game or body shop. They always regenerate. (If you don't feel comfortable about trashing them, just drag them to the desktop. You'lll find new ones in their place when your game is properly closed. )

Also, if you add in other EPs, that are older than what you currently have, you will have to uninstall the new ones first, then install the group in the proper order. Since you said the store clerk installed the game for you, I'll assume it was done in the correct order.

I chose anything under 1000x1000 px and less than 600 KB and put there. And I cleared the cache as you said, and the thumbnails also, before starting game. They showed up. The pixels kinda distorted but the finished painting is good (made a spamano painting nfu)

Before this I tested by telling my sim whose creativity level is maximized and it showed up only 2. Now it shows up all! XD Okay, I'll take that to notice. Thank you so much, again

I believe it's not a seasons feature but a pets feature which is available to all later expansions as well...
including apartment life.
