problems with my Internet connection

So, from some days I have problems with my Internet connection. First of all, I already informed my Internet provider, and for them there's no problem at all: the connection are working fine. But! It's not working well for me. It seems working fine for a while, but then it stop working and it give me not connection at all. But my brother's netbook (and my other brother's pc) does have connection which is configured wi-fi, while my pc goes with the Ethernet cable. And lastly, we have changed modem some few days but it's given from my Internet provider so it must work properly.
So, what do you think is it? Can it be my computer or my ethernet working badly? The new modem? Any ideas?

Other option could be the cable
try with another cable, borrow one and try it out

You didn't happen to change any modem/connection settings with your old one, right? Like with the ports

Faulty cables can also bring connection problems.

Switch to wireless... Maybe your modem has problems - mine had a malfunction and my Internet crashed down.

it's possible that the modem is faulty too;p
in my country, free stuff (ie my router) will always be the cheapskate and lousy option, coz they're cheaper to provide;p
try using another modem and see whether it works for you

I've replaced the old cable with the new one that came with the modem, and re-installed the drivers/whatever else with the modem's cd. I also replaced the old ADSL filter with the new one. For now, it's working fine... I hope it will continue like this

I thought that too at first but, I don't want to spend money to buy a WiFi USB Adapters when my ethernet was working fine until some days ago. And on top of that, all my USB port's are occupied. If there's a problem it must be solved, after all I'm paying for a useful service

Well in my country too it can be cheap, but it's new and the connection's was working fine with the old modem, but now this new one seems to hate my pc/ethernet and other's people that have the same modem as mine doesn't have any problems at all.
And lastly, I can't buy another modem 'cause I know that my ADSL Internet provider's it's not supported well with other modems... it would be a waste of money

Does your house work completely with an ethernet cable or do you have a router that everyone in the house uses? (since you mentioned the other two computers use wi-fi)

And does your cable connect to the router?
If you do use a router, there may be communication problems between it and your computer. If that's the case, you'll have to fix that by "restarting" the router communications through it's website that you have to sign into (at least this is the case with NetLink)

For now, try cleaning up your computer. Always nice to do that Defrag and all that. Are you using Windows 7/XP/Vista?

I have Windows 7. Dunno what's NetLink anyway, my modem is also a router, so it has my Ethernet connect to it and then my bro's use it with wi-fi (also my PSP and PS3).
For now it's working fine, after changing the cable with the new one and installed the new modem's drivers.
I hope it's solved now, 'cause before changing the cable the connection seemed to work but then stopped after a while so I really hope it's all okay now
