Missing items on computer

Hi

A couple days ago I allowed my computer to install updates that it wanted since it had been awhile since I had done any updates. But when I started it up in the morning in the bottom corner where all my little icons are (where your clock is and stuff) two things were missing. My battery life icon (the one that allows me to adjust the power options and lets me know how much life is left in the battery) and my connection center (lets me know if wifi is available and if I'm connected or not). Now I have to type in power options to be able to change power settings and there it won't show me how much battery life I have left. And go through my network to find the option to see wifis available.

What happened to my icons? Is it some glitch in my computer, should I take it to best buy to get it fixed? Or is there an easy solution. I have restarted my computer several times in an attempt to see if it would reappear but no luck.

If you have XP, you could try to right-click the Start button and choose Properties. Then click Taskbar and Start Menu Properties and then click customize. From here you can choose which icons you want to be displayed in the taskbar.

If you don't have XP, and have some other operating system like Windows 7 or Vista, it might still work quite similarly, but I'm not sure. If my answer wasn't any help for you, it might be best if you could clarify your question a little bit, and tell us more about your computer - for example, what is your operating system - so maybe someone else could help you better.

Control Panel > Personalize > Change Desktop Icons and see if the network and battery are checked

Thank you, and sorry it was Windows Vista. I before I had been to an area similar to where allied and liberty-san sent me but not the correct spot. They are checked now, thank you so so much *hugs to everyone*
