What exactly do you mean?
do you mean having bookmarks on top of the [opened] tabs? :O
um... usually there should be a blank line, or some bookmars like favorites or something like that?
um.. try drawing/tugging a open tab in that line. Try that and tell me if its "saved" there then.
Edit: looks like this for me^^
I'm not sure I understand what you're asking but I think you currently can't see the toolbar?
Then you can go to View>Toolbars>Bookmarks Toolbar
If you actually want to put a bookmark on the toolbar then you can either drag the window tab or a previously bookmarked page from your bookmarks right onto the toolbar. Or you can press Ctrl+D and where is says folder choose bookmarks toolbar and press done. Hope that helps~

If you can't see a blank space in your toolbar to click and draw tabs to, maybe it's clustered?
There's this wonderful little firefox addon that turns all your bookmarks into icons that expand when you hold your cursor over them - it saves a chunkload of space if you're a bookmark maniac like me!
Apart from clicking on the tabs and drawing them onto the toolbar, you can also create folders there to organize similar groups of bookmarks and save even MORE space. ^^
It's all done by right-clicking on the bookmarks toolbar. After you make the folder, drag the bookmarks onto its icon to put them there. ^^
Bookmarks are FUNNEH!
PS: OH! Almost forgot! When you first install Firefox, it puts a LOT of its own bookmarks on your toolbar and you probably won't ever use them. I had a headlines live feed, OPERA community and some other stuff there.
DELETE them. Saves space!
Okay, mine is in German language, lol
But if you go to the bookmark-dropdown-menu, then there's smth called "Bookmarks Toolbar" - if you add websites to that toolbar, then they appear in the first row, like I marked with stupid red arrows, lol
