About LinkBacksOnce I try to open an .MKV file with Virtualdub-MPEG2 I get an error message.
I want to create some clips cropping the original video, so I must open it with Virtualdub.
Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance

You need to install AVISynth http://avisynth.org/ and find a good script to open the file. You can also use VirtualDubMod that can open it directly but it was discontinued.
If you want only a pice of the video with no sound you can demux the mkv and open the video file with VirtualDub. mkvtoolnix -- Matroska tools for Linux/Unix and Windows

! I've solved it with AVISynth after watching the tutorial. Mkvtoolnix doesn't work for me (or maybe is just the video).
