Lamento installation guide

I followed all the instructions by installing the game and applying the 3 patches, and then mounting the boot.iso in place, and when I click on the game, it STILL says "Lamento - beyond the void has stopped working" I don't get what's wrong, I'm pretty sure the patches were done correctly, but I don't know because its the same result with or without the patches. Any help?

hmm....when you say that you mount the boot.iso in its' place, did you also load the Lamento_DVD.iso on the 2nd device that is supposed to be set on Daemon tools....if both are not loaded together, i don't think the game can work...other than that i'm not very sure why is it not working....
do check that your computer has been set to Japanese system before install the game....if not it will not work too....

I've been having the exact same problem! I have a new laptop with Windows 7. Togainu no Chi works perfectly fine, but Lamento would just not open even after I installed all the patches. It would load for a bit and quit working. :\ Maaaan, I already have the PS2 version of Togainu no Chi so I wouldn't have beaten myself up too much if Togainu wouldn't work but Lamento!? ;__;

EDIT:
I finally was able to make Lamento work! I discovered that Lamento is completely incompatible with Windows 7 (unless Nitro Chiral is nice enough to give a Windows 7 patch soon... which I doubt) so I tried to find a way to run Windows XP on my laptop. It was a pretty complicated process though. I downloaded a freeware called "Virtualbox" (http://www.virtualbox.org/) and you can run Windows XP on your computer. The problem is that you need the CD file for Windows XP to mount on the program so it can install it. If you're able to get that going, installing Lamento is smooth sailing.

Has anyone been able to get the game to work on a win7 64bit or win vista 64bit. I know that people have been able to get it to work on a 32bit. Don't know why but if anyone did i would like to know since after installing the game it doesn't even open.

About 3/4's of the way through the installation I keep getting this error message and then the program shuts down and won't go any futher:

D:/data2.cab
data error (cyclic redundancy check).

I'd appreciate any help you have thank you

How do I mount the boot.iso file? It's in a .rar and there's nothing in it. I tried extracting it as it is, but there's nothing.

Well there could be several things... What post did you download from? Maybe you had to join the files before extracting? Or your antivirus blocked the file (that happens often).

What OS do you use?

As for mounting the files, I recommend using Daemon tools.

Anyways, you can always try to download again, and follow the instructions from the first pages of this thread, or watch this video, it might help.

Nope, it's just .rar. No .001 or anything like that. I doubt it's the antivirus... I mean, they would at least show that there's a file there instead of showing en empty archive right?

Well, depends on your antivirus, when I used Nod, it sometimes deleted files (keygens mostly) without even asking me to confirm. So I didn't even get to see the file after extraction. But I doubt that's the case if there's nothing even in the .rar file.
Maybe it's hidden? I'm out of ideas here xD

when I got those 2 they weren't iso then when I tried the rar things they won't even extract and I got winrar <,<

Alright, so i've gone though all of these instructions, but I still can't get my game to run! ;w; I've managed to install it and everything, and I even get the "Game Start" option on the dialog box, but when I click it, it crashes.

It doesn't give me any error messages or anything, it just crashes. A "Lamento-BEYOND THE VOID- has stopped working" dialog box pops up and I don't know what to do anymore.

Also, I noticed that my Daemon Tools looks different. It gives me the option to open a DT or a DCSI driver, but how it's put on here. What do I do? halp. ;w;
