Oh my god \o/ I didn't try it yet, but I have windows 10 and I try to run Togainu no Chi since forever T-T .
I just have a question before experiencing your miraculous method.
Do I have to overwritte the .exe before or after applying english patches? (i'm kind of dumb concerning computer, especially when every tips are in english on internet lol)
If someone is volunteer to explain me step by step how to install TnC on windows 10 feel free tranform yourself into an amazing sensei lol .

All my screenshots are taken with Togainu no Chi on Windows 10, running on Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode, with Administrator rights, installed on a custom folder (not default). UsingNO-CD patch.

I have completed Keisuke (Good/Bad), Motomi and Rin routes, currently playing Shiki's.

That hanging thing is normal. It happens to me as well and there is no permanent solution for that not to happen. From my experimentation hanging happens when you have a dialog box to go through during save/load (it's the confirmation screen like this one). It also happens sometimes when messing with "Configuration" dialog boxes.

Btw, you should disable "Edit save file descriptions", I think it's been known to disable the temporary fix for the hang. And it also adds another of those hang inducing dialog box. Also, may make the game crazy as usually, it will use English alphabet in descriptions instead of kana.

This is what I do to remove the hang: When it hangs, you go to the task bar, right click on the Togainu no Chi icon, then left click on Close Window. Don't worry, it won't automatically close the Togainu no Chi window.

After clicking on "Close Window", a prompt will appear (See Fig. 4). It's the game prompting you whether you really want to close the game. Pick "No". The game should unhang and you can play normally again. Until you encounter the dialog box again when overwriting save file or loading.

Oh my goddness, it seems to work, I've diseabled the thing on the config window, and I do the task bar thing when the hang happens :o !

Just posting this here for the sake of making it available to everyone.

This is going to be a step-by-step guide to installing Togainu no Chi, I hope people will find it useful!


I'm sorry it's gonna look huge, but it's explained in simple terms to make it easier to follow. ^^ If you already have some of these steps done, just find the appropriate step you need.


Also, I put each part in SPOILER tags so it doesn't look as scary, and you can go through each part separately. Click the [SHOW] button to open the next step as you go!

Part 1 - Setting your System Locale to Japanese

First of all, you need to make sure your computer has it's System Locale set to Japanese. This is a requirement to play any Japanese Visual Novels. Here is a link to instructions on how to do that: http://aarinfantasy.com/forum/f360/t...ml#post4219281


Please restart your computer once your System Locale is set to Japanese.

Part 2 - An ISO Mounting Program

Now, you will need an ISO mounting program. It will make your computer think you have another DVD drive, and will let you install these games. Here is one for you that is really simple: https://www.redfox.bz/en/download.html (Find the section marked: Freeware then look for the program: Virtual CloneDrive and click on the blue download icon)
It's called Virtual CloneDrive, and once it's installed, all you need to do to mount an ISO is to doubleclick on the ISO, then it's there! ^^

Part 3 - Archive extraction program

Most of the games you will find will be split into smaller files. This is to make it easier to share. So you will need a program that will let you get at the files. A program called 7-Zip will let you do this: http://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1514-x64.exe Install that and then we'll continue!

Part 4 - Downloading the Game

Next we'll need a copy of the game we want, Togainu no Chi! Visit this post: http://aarinfantasy.com/forum/f145/t...ml#post4303052 And then click on the text under MEGA called "Togainu no Chi".


The MEGA page will load, now click on the GREY button named "DOWNLOAD through your browser". Save it somewhere easy to get to. It's just one file!

Part 5 - Extracting and Mounting the game ISO

Once you have the RAR saved, you can RIGHT click on "togainunochi.rar", select "7-Zip" and choose "Extract here". Give it a little time to extract the ISO...


Afterwards you'll have a new ISO file and a folder called "TNC English Patch (1.0)", but what you want right now is the file "isotogainu01.iso". Double-click on it, and it should now mount on your computer! ^_^

Part 6 - Installing the game! ^_^

Your computer should have popped up a window asking if you want to run the Installer, so go ahead and do that. If it didn't, open up your "My Computer" option and open the Togainu no Chi DVD to run the installer" "install.exe"


Click on "Game Install" in the black window with the man's face, then look for the second button with the "次へ (N)>" and click that.




NOW, this is where you need to select a new save location for the game. Please, please, PLEASE do not use the default location! Click the button with the (R) in it (On the right), and choose Just C:\, and then click "次へ (N)>".


Click on "次へ (N)>" once more, to confirm the options you selected...


Let it do it's install....


After it's done it'll popup with a question. It's asking if you want a Desktop Icon for Togainu no Chi. Your choice. ^^


The next window that pops up is asking if you want to read the Readme file. DESELECT the checkbox, and click the "完了" button, it's the second one.

Part 7 - Downloading the English Patch (and core update)


** If you used the download for the Togainu no Chi ISO I suggested, you will ALREADY HAVE THE ENGLISH PATCH! Please advance to Part 8 directly!

If you DO NOT have the English Patch for whatever reason, you can find the English patch available here:

Click on the MediaFire text underneath "Download Link", then in the new window select the green "DOWNLOAD (9.54 MB)" button and save the file in the same folder you have the Togainu no Chi ISO.


Once the file is downloaded, Right-click on the file "TNC English Patch (1.0).rar", select "7-Zip", then select "Extract here".


Three folders (Step 1 through Step 3) and a PDF will be extracted!

Part 8 - Update the Game core

Now we have to patch the game to a version that the English Patch uses!
Go back to the folder where you extracted the Togainu no Chi ISO, into the folder named "Step 1", then find the file named "togainu_update_101", and run it. Click "OK", and now we wait for a while...


After a bit a window will pop up. It should say...


アップデートが終了しました。


With an OK button. This is NOT an error! It just says it was patched successfully. ^^ If it says anything other than the above, let me know and we'll try to fix it. o.O;;

Part 9 - Run the Image Patcher

Go back to the folder where you extracted the Togainu no Chi ISO, now go into the folder named "Step 2", then find the file named "TNC Image Patch", and run it.


Click on the "Next >" button, now click on the "Browse" button.


This is important! The image patcher doesn't know where Togainu no Chi was installed so we have to tell it ourselves.


If you followed my guide, Togainu no Chi should be installed directly to Drive C:. So find it through the new window that popped up.


Click on "My Computer" or "This PC", then find "Local Disk (C".


Next, look for the Japanese folder named: 咎狗の血


And click OK.


Once the "Destination Folder" says, C:\咎狗の血 (Or wherever you installed TnC yourself) then you can click the "Install" button! ^^


Let it do it's thang.


When it's done, deselect any checkboxes that ask you to view any files, and then click "Finish".

Part 10 - Copy the English Patch to the proper folder

Last time going back to the folder where you extracted the Togainu no Chi ISO. Hop into the folder named "Step 3", and find the file named "script.pak".


COPY the file by Right-clicking on the file, and selecting "Copy".


Now, open up a new folder by opening your "My Computer" or "This Computer", and goto Local Disk (C, and find the Togainu no Chi folder named: 咎狗の血


Basically, C:\咎狗の血 (Or wherever you installed TnC)


Now, in that folder, right-click on the WHITE SPACE, and select "Paste". NOT "Paste Shortcut".


Windows will ask if you want to overwrite, so YES! Overwrite the file!

Part 11 - Replace the program with a NoCD version.

Nearly done!

Click on the GREY button named "DOWNLOAD through your browser", and save it in the same folder where you Togainu no Chi was installed. NOT the ISO, otherwise you might accidentally overwrite the big RAR file.


So... C:\咎狗の血 <--- Save it here, or wherever you installed TnC




Once the RAR is downloaded, right-click on the file named "togainunochi.rar" and select "7-Zip", and then "Extract here".


7-Zip will ask if you want to overwrite the file named "togainunochi" PLEASE overwrite the file! DON'T KEEP BOTH FILES. It will just give you a headache later...

Once that's done, your folder should look like mine:

PLEASE IGNORE THE FACT THAT I HAVE A FILE NAMED "script.pak.bak". It's just a backup of the script I made. Purely my own choice, you won't have it!

Also, the filesize of "togainunochi.exe" SHOULD BE 152 KB. Mine says 880 KB, that's the old version. The new one is 152 KB!!

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

1. What is your Windows 10 Version and build? (Type "winver" on Start search. You'll see the build in a dialog box, the version you can see on "System" when you right-click the Start Button)
Ex. Windows 10 Home Single Language Build 1607 --> My Windows 10 Version and Build

2. Did you properly put your laptop/PC to System Locale JP?

3. Is your installer properly downloaded? Use this online MD5 Checker to check whether your ISO has downloaded completely.

Online MD5 Hash Generator & SHA1 Hash Generator

Browse for your unzipped ISO/IMG-CUE-CCD file, upload it, then on the "Compare with", put this code (this is based on my own working ISO file and an IMG-CUE-CCD file):

togainu.img (662 160 KB, with togainu.CCD and togainu.CUE, Fuwanovel version) MD5 - 83754BA7FFE0B84B4227880F7A9E416F
Well, if this aren't the name of the files you've dl'd the hash check might fail. If the size of your image is close to the sizes I provided, probably the download is not corrupted.

4. What is your mounting device? Daemon Tools? If it is, try downloading VirtualClone Drive instead. Then Run as Administrator.

I believe the latest Daemon Tools Lite doesn't work well with TnC's ISO (Or many other VN ISO's for that matter, they changed the way it works).

Microsoft has a default ISO loader in Windows 10, however I'm not privy to how it works. If all else fails, as monokuroe suggested, do try VirtualClone Drive.

I tried that you wrote there. I disabled "Edit save file descriptions" (tick is out). I finally could save an empty slot (it's very hard, because the dialog box is always there). But I couldn't do the "Close Window, pick "No" solution when I tried to load a saved file, totally freeze the whole thing (blue circle around "No")

That was the last hope for me...
