New Usage for Points

Only since the 6th of Sept? Wow, it seems like so much more. Just last weekend I had 119 mil and now it is at 122 mil and it seems to be growing quickly



The custom titles even if it is to choose from a pre-set list would be a great idea.

If the users who could afford can change their titles to a choice of 10 'custom' titles, then that would still leave the staff privilege of unique staff customised titles intact. We can choose from a few stock titles but staff can still write whatever can fit in the space. This should benefit everyone.

Shop for Custom Titles eh... pretty interesting. I know how to change custom titles for usergroups but setting up a shop for this I think requires a whole new thingy.

I still have this "new" idea that I mentioned many months ago for the card shop, it isn't exactly character/pet card but something a bit different. Haven't had the chance to make and try that one out lol. I wanted it to be a surprise, so I didn't discuss openly or even to staff yet.

I've also tested and tried that the proposed new sig size is still decent and not too massive for this forum. I didn't go for 600x300 cuz it's way too big.

Yup, or else it would end up like MangaFox, where users have massive signatures and sometimes it just goes out of hand. Some of them hide it using spoiler tags though, while some couldn't be bothered. It's definitely a chore to be scrolling down so much just to see other posts. ._.

I do support the custom user title suggestion too. Also, maybe the "aarinplushie" would be a nice one to go with. ;D

I really like the idea of being able to use points to purchase a custom title. It could be a one-time only thing and let it be very expensive - 25million or so. Personally, I would use up all my points to create a unique title if I could ...but that is just me^^

In addition to selling pre-set titles, unique titles could be offered for the highest price. They should be outrageously expensive though; something that only people with 50 or 100+ million points could afford, maybe even just billionaires. ^.^ If they're too affordable, then it defeats the purpose of the pre-set title system. Everyone would just skip the pre-set titles and go for their own custom title.

The benefit of making them super expensive would be that the custom titles would be coveted even by multimillionaires who would sigh and dream of the day they would be able to buy their own unique title. It would finally give the super rich something to save up for, as well as accommodating people with fewer points, who would still be able to purchase the pre-set titles.

I agree that that would be way too massive and unnecessary, but what I am curious about is the vertical signature. I'm usually not one to have a lot of text in my signature, so I'm wondering if allowing a vertical signature could be considered. It wouldn't need to be the full 500 pixels vertical, but maybe 300-400 would be doable provided there isn't another foot of text signature following.

I'm not going to cry if this is shot down, but it's something I'm interested in when making graphics and an option I'd be willing to give up points for. ^^

@darker hei..thank you!! the vertical signature is a pretty interesting idea. I've seen some over at nihonomaru forums but i think once we limit the size it would look great. I'm a bit worried about the excess scrolling but it would be nice to see that fresh idea, so I'm all for it

Ok So I read though so of this and I have a few SUGGESTIONS (please don’t crucify me)
- I really do like the idea of the Pet thing….. whether it be your icon, to be put in your sig, or maybe above your reputation or something, I like the IDEA of having something cute to work hard and play dress up with(much like Pet Society on FB, only cuter). And I would love to help out, should that ever go into motion <3 Having said that, it sounds a lot like if Neopets and Gaia Online have a baby…… and as much a both of those times in my life where fun at the time…. I never want to go back there XD
- I think if people really need an out lit for crud loads of points, just keep doing what you’re doing with cards…. Or make ANIMATED ones, like really tiny gifs XD and make them like a billion points >.<
- As another idea for ‘customization’, you could do something to EARN the ability to change your post appearance? Like make it a particular BG color, unlock a cool sig separator bar…. Instead of just the straight line we have now… New fonts, or something…. Possibly being able to earn different titles under our names…. Like Fame titles in MMOs!
- The things that cost points (mostly) are thing visible when we post: SIG, Cards, etc. I think the thing we need to keep in mind when thinking of thing to ‘add’ is thing that would also be visible….. However, the more things we add the more crowded our forum looks.
- As an example I submit nihonomaru for your judgment: Welcome to Nihonomaru! | Anime Network (the thing I like best about this forum in the awards system <3)
- Many good ideas have been stated, and as a side note I’d like to say I loves the Forums to bits, and I would never want to ask too much of Admins, as I have them to thank for some of the happiest moments in my day. But many of the thing suggested sound like DONATION ideas…. I would feel bad asking them to go thought all the trouble of making a new feature, and not get paid for it!!!

I love nihonmaru's little funky awards things! There could be awards for like, people who submit things to the site (i.e. manga contributor, anime contributor, doujinshi contributor, etc.) and for, like, people who have a set in an auction that goes for over a million. Little, random fun things like that, as well as the obvious sparklies for post count, FOTM/SOTM/POTM/etc, and so forth.

Not really something you'd buy with points, but still pretty fun!

As for changing post appearance.. that sounds awesome, too xD Though it might be tough since not everyone uses the same style background (i.e. dark/blue/green fantasy) and giving people the freedom to change even more around might make it tough for people to read their posts. I know reading posts with light color fonts is hard for me because I use blue fantasy xD

How many billionnaires do we have on the forum? I'm just asking because I don't think it's worth anybody's while to go out of their way to find new ways for them only to use their points. With the new caps on interests, it's not vey likely that their numbers will go up by much. With the new extra expensive cards, even the millionnaires will think twice before purchasing such cards. The last time I checked, only 30 members purchased the Level 13 one and even less that that for the two other extra expensive level. Why can't they very rich be able to submit a card for those levels in exchange for an insane amount of points?

For other options for the "general public", I would understand for things being bought by a few millions of points but for a billion????

there are actually quite a lot of billionaires more then real life anyway, generally, until early this year, if you say had 1 million in savings then within a year and a half you'll be a billionaire who will then have a daily interest of a million points +
