We can't remove negative/bad reps if people give them to you.

It's a bit lame and unfortunate if the reason the someone would do it is simply out of spite - we would hope that the members of this community are a tad more mature than that.

It would be nice to know who gave you a rep (+ or -). You should have valid/strong reason to give someone a bad rep.

I know about the retaliate thing, but it was better like it was before.

No, because that would only incite people to retaliate. The best thing to do is move on. It's only 1 negative rep - and you have way more positive reps. So, clearly it's not a reflection on you as a person. Not everyone you encounter will give you a positive rep. There's no point in dwelling on it.

I would think it is better to just let people see the good rep but not the bad rep, since it might trigger off some dispute and complicate matters.

But it is true that one should have a valid reason for giving bad rep, especially if you have high rep power.

Yeah, but what if I don't like someone and start to giving him/her a bad rep every week out of spite. That wouldn't be fair, but I can do it because nobody is going to know it's me. That's why I think the previous system was better. If you have something to complain, do it directly.

If you have reason to suspect that someone is actually doing something as heinous as that - then contact a mod immediately. We can ask the admins to look into it.

Most of the members here are reasonable people who can be trusted to do the responsible thing.

If there is one or two people who break this trust, you bring your concern to us. The admins will look into it, find out who it is and deal with them accordingly.

No - it would defeat the whole purpose of setting up the system the way it is to begin with.

I hope someone can help me. I´ve meant to rep someone for the last couple of days but it just doesn´t work. It works with other people though. I also haven´t repped that person before. So I wonder how that can be... Any suggestions? Thanks!
