Mass deletion for inactive accounts

Hi everyone, from end of January 2021, I have started mass deleting a lot of inactive users here... which I haven't done so in a very long time. So please don't worry or be surprised if you see a sudden drop in forum members or more users that became 'Guest' (because they were deleted). I am estimating at least or about 300k or more users deleted by end of June this year.

For the past one month, the forum has already removed about 150k users. These users are mainly users that haven't login since 2013 and most of them have 0 post in the forum. The forum system is currently auto mass deleting all accounts that have 0 post and inactive at least until 2017-2018.

The mass deletion process only runs when I am login though, so it isn't going as fast as I wanted to... that's why I am expecting this task to complete only by June 2021.

To summarize it up what I meant by "inactive", I will be deleting these accounts till June 2021:
- Has not login since 2013 (regardless of post count)
- Has not login since 2014 (regardless of post count)
- Has not login since 2015 with 0 posts (maybe regardless of post count)
- Has not login since 2016 with 0 posts
- Has not login since 2017 with 0 posts
- Has not login since 2018 with 0 posts

It is sad to see such huge numbers drop, but at the same time, I am glad to clean up and free more space for the forum... starting fresh again! Just remember to login at least once every 1-2 years to keep your account alive, especially if you don't post anything here.

If you're here to check if you can delete your forum account, you can also PM me directly and ask for 'account deletion' as the subject. Alternatively, you can just leave your account inactive and it will be auto deleted when the time comes.

Reminder: Always remember to keep your account secure by using a password that you don't use anywhere else online. Never use the same password that you use in this forum as your email address password (the email address that you registered with).

That makes perfect sense,,if a person hasn't logged in in all that time most likely they have forgotten they signed up to join,,so their accounts have been abandoned and now are collecting dust,,so I agree a good house cleaning is in order...

Sorry if my question was already answered by your post but I just want to make sure that I will be saved from deletion, is ok if I just view and log in but do not post or participate in any events?

Yes, you will not be deleted if you just login and view but not post or participate in anything

As long as you have login once every 1-2 years is fine.

But if you're really not very active and don't mind your account deleted, you can just let it get deleted and can re-register an account again here later if you decide to come back. However, your username may be taken by another person if it is a common one.

What will this mean for profiles that are older than 2015 that provide download links in threads? Will all those links be lost?

Nope, they will not be lost and will remain there including download links etc. Their usernames will still be there but status will appear as "Guest". The only time that a post will be completely gone is when the user personally asked for their specific posts/threads to be removed. So no worries on this issue
