Windows problems
Hi I kinda have a problem
I have multiple drives (ie C, D .. etc) on my computer but accidentally installed copies of windows on each of the drives. How do I get rid of them without reformatting or eliminating the information on my drives?
Suggestions very much appreciated Thanks ^^

Hey there Chrono. Well you can go the easy route. Delete the Windows directory from the drives that have the extra copies. Boot from the drive that you want to keep windows on first though.
-
Thanks Shigure!
However after doing that, it still shows me multiple Windows XP to load. Is there a way of getting rid of that?
-
Yes there is but it involves editing the Boot.ini file. You will probably want to find a good walkthrough for this on the web. ^^

>.< Ack
I guess there's no other way?
I don't think I have the courage to edit the boot.ini file lol
Thanks for your help Shigure

LOL. Yeah that is what identifies all of the installations. You can always make a backup of everything and then work on it.

After editting the boot.ini file everything seemed to work well. I don't think I'm missing any data either which is also a good thing.
I guess this is the happy ending? lol I sure hope I don't have to do anything else . Thanks for the help Shigure.

Oh no! I'm in serious trouble! After restrating again it says "NTLDR missing" and I can't reboot. What do I do?
-
OK...you deleted the installation info for running off the c drive. Chrono you have a few options...one is to try and manually rewrite the boot.ini file...or...use your OS CD to recover. Follow these guidelines:

for additional info about the boot process and the code, go here http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000492.htm
Hang in there. This is not a huge problem.
I am confused though...the first time you restarted there was no problem?
-
Yup the first time there was no problem
And something really strange happened too , My C and E drives have switched around. (ie my C drive is now called the E drive and vice versa)
Currently when I try to reboot my comp, an error message about "not enough resources" keep popping up :P
