I have tried downloading all sorts of different videos. Ai no Kusabik, Fujimi Orchestra, Sensitive Pornograph, you get the idea. Everytime I try to play it, Windows Media Player tells me the file has codecs missing (or something like that). It is driving me crazy! Please oh please will someone help me?

You need the DivX codec to play (any of) the videos here on aarinfantasy I believe.
You can get the DivX codec here:
http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/
Select the "Free Download" option.

Well, if you have a codec missing, it would be best to find out which ones! If you download G-Spot, it'll tell you what Codec the file you're trying to play uses, you can then go find that single codec, or download a codec package, like the K-Lite Codec pack. It should solve the problem.
Or, you could download Windows Media Player Classic, I like it far mroe then Windows Media Player.

play with VLC media player:
www.videolan.org
you don't need codecs with ths player (it has inbuilt codecs) and it plays a huge variety of formats...

just try vlc player for pretty much any file type. I don't know about mkv, i've never really heard about that, but if you try it, it might work. As for downloading all those codecs, if divx and xvid hasn't worked, it might be a lagartith or huffYUV file....you can play those with windows media player, but if it's really big file than it will be choppy when it plays. My guess is try to either compress it, which is more trouble than it's worth, or try other codecs, unless your using vlc player. (www.videolan.org/vlc/)

I'd liek to take this oppertunity to say somethign abotu the following codec packs/players:
ffmpeg, ffdshow, VLC, ongbird, and CCCP
Although yes, combined teh play about everything, for a full quality it's better to download teh indivual codecs (this is especially noticeably if your resolution is set to anytihng over 1024x768, or are playing back on a TV)
AVI is usualy DivX or XviD (see earleir post for link) with MP3 or AC3 Audio ( http://ac3.sf.net ) MKV are usually DivX or XviD with AC3 or AAC Audio (iTunes and RealOne include dirrectshow decoders) adn require a splitter ( Haali or Lazyboy MKV) OGM are usually DivX, although sometiems Theora ( http://theora.org ) and Vorbis Audio, and use the same splitter as MKV's usually
MP4 files, however, i do suggest VLC for because the stand-along x264 decoder/encoder has much to be desired, and the newest versions are programed into the ffmpeg build relreased with VLC
