Can anyone recommend a good program that will convert dvds into AVI, Xvid, etc?
last time I remember, DVDs were already in avi, but in a different framerate. I think dvds had a framerate of 23 or something (normal avi has like 29.7 fps) , but if you want to know a really good program, I use Virtual Dub Mod, like for ripping scenes froma DVD to use in amvs. first you just open up the video into virtualdubmod, click the 'video' tab and click 'compression' and choose xvid =] or divx (like mpeg-layer or something of that kind) either one. I got my version of virtualdubmod here:
http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net/
it's in the 'downloads' section of their homepage. hope this helps! ^^
go to http://www.mininova.org or http://www.torrentreactor.com/
and type in convert dvd to avi
I used something called FlaskMPEG once.
http://www.flaskmpeg.net/
Converts fast, with the codec you want, with audio and subtitles if you want.
I am looking for a DVD progrem that's is easy to use that would allowed to upload my DVDs onto my computer. Can anyone suggest one or upload one for me. Thanx
Look for a DVD ripper. There are some of them, you may choose the one you like best.
DVD Shrink: Burns and rips
http://www.dvdshrink.org/what.html
DVD Decrypter - only rips
http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/
I would personally use both :D and they are both free
Ishtar said it all! XD
*blushes* Coming from the expert, that's quite a compliment :D
Lol! I'm not that expert! XD
I need to learn a lot about DVD ripping... I don't know too much cuz I don't need to rip DVD's. I just copy them on the fly. XD
I watch a lot of Hindi movies and the DVD's have 2 movies on one because they need use 9. something GB DVDs and I only have the 4.7GB ones. So I'm forever splitting the movies up, adding the subtitles and audio and then burning again :P
It's a pain in the bum I can tell you :P
I think DVD Copy from Cyberlink can shrink the double layer DVD's on the fly, I don't have it anymore, I can't tell you for sure. Double layer blank DVD's are too expensive.
I love Cyberlink's DVD products...
I did try that, but the quality suffers too much :S
The prices for double layer DVD's are just ridiculous.
Thanks a lot for the links...I'm search for some programs a long time...so THANKS
here you go this works great(dvdfabdecrypter get version 2.9 and 3 if you can) its free but you wil need a program to burn your dvds..these only rip..but the 2.9 version can shrink a dvd9 to a dvd5 with very very little loss of quality I use it all the time
please go here: www.dvdidle.com
take care now
I guess now we have a real pro! :p
well me too...^-^
Thanks a lot for your help lemur7
aaawww!! you guys...your making me blush....but seriously....need any more help just pm me and I'll try my best...don't know much about taking pieces of audio/video/subtitle tracks and putting them together(going to learn though) but I do know a good easy to use program when I find one...easy=simple to use with great quality results....and I'm really good at finding out problems and how to solve them....things that people usually just over-look because either its not there looking at them in the face or so so simple they tend forget it is there and they don't think to check...like HZ settings(buzzing/squeeling noise instead of a "real" audio track)that kind of thing
THANK-YOU!!(sorry for yelling)I'm very glad I could help...
VirtualDub is very good to put things together.
Seconded to that...takes a while to get the hang of it though...well for me anyway :S
thanks !!..I'll try it out....I'll go and download it now....I'll also get any filter or subtitle add-on/add-in things too..... :)..take care
Thank you for the compliment :D
Hi, i use Dvd Shrink and found that most of the newest dvd's won't let you copy. Older dvds (like about 3 yrs ago) can be copied w/o much problems. If you have any questions, the DVD Shrink software comes with a "help" button that is very handy. <----i use it all the time :D
I have to give dvd decripter a try. Though I do have a question, how about a program that once i rip my dvd to my pc converts that dvd into avi? Is there one out there? (sorry, did not read the whole thread...if they answered the question already...my bad -_-).
I know that nero can turn dvd's into whats called nero showtime (a form of mpeg format video) simular to avi but to do it you have to decrypt the dvd mount the image with something like daemon then have nero convert from the mounted image this getaround the encryption without the need to burn the dvd then take the clean dvd-r and turn it to avi I know there is another dvd program. I'm gonna have to check hXXp://majorgeeks.com/ to find it again drat I hate it when I cant remember something
I don't think DVD Decrypter has that problem. That's why I rip with DVD Decrypter and then burn with DVD Shrink.
As for DVD into AVI- we answered that just a few posts above. Use Virtual Dub mod or a simpler program like River Past Video Cleaner Pro- you have to pay for that or keep a watermark on the file...
