[Solved] player for .rar file?

Hey,

If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.
I've downloaded something and the files are an .rar format.
I'm using VLC player and they won't play. Does anyone know what type of player that would play these files?

Rar files aren't playable. They're like zipped files. Go to htp://www.rarlab.com/ & download a beta version of Winrar to unpack the file. Even though it's supposedly a trial (the one I DLed was, anyway), you never really have to quit using it.

I am having the same problem when I try downloading the host link Doujinshis. My computer opens it under Windows media player and I get the .rar format pop up. I have files to unzip things but it is not even coming up in a way that I can (or that I know how to). I don't have any problems with the direct downlinks. If you could suggest something, I would be greatly appreciative! Thanks!

^ I use Extractnow http://www.extractnow.com/ to uzip/unrar files. It's freeware and supports the most popular file compression formats. Just drag and drop the file into the Extractnow window, press Extract, and you're done! You can also download the official WinRar as mentioned before, which is shareware. Windows Media Player has nothing to do with rar files O_o;

Btw, you can also use CDisplay to read manga and doujinshis WITHOUT having to extract them from the zip/rar file Very handy.

^ What exactly did you download? WinRar? If so, install the program you downloaded. It will usually take over the icon of .rar and possibly the .zip files. If you double click it, it will say something like "extract files", and just follow the instructions. If that doesn't work, open the program (WinRar?), drag-and-drop the archive you wish to extract into the program window, then look for the "Extract" button. It'll normally be extracted in the same folder as the archive.
