[solved] Black Layer Convering Part of the Forum

It started a few days ago. Parts of the forum are black but the content's visible.

Starting some days ago, I could no longer see my profile background image or my friends'. It's all covered by a black layer.

My notification bar ~ the one with red letters at the left bottom corner of the page ~ has disappeared too.

I'm adding two screencaps to give a better idea of the problem.

    01 - 02

A tiny line of my background image can be seen on the second screencap, under the black layer.

I've already tried clearing history and cookies, changing and updating browsers and updating GeForce drivers.

When I browsed the forum on a different computer, there was no black layer.

I'd really, really appreciate if someone could help me.

    Thanks!

Found this answer to the issue with regards to Firefox
    Try the following.

Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter.
To bypass the warning, press the big button labeled "I'll be careful, I promise!".
In the lower pane, right-click and choose New then Boolean.
As the preference name, enter layout.paint_rects_separately and as the value choose true
    Restart Firefox.
If the above doesn't help, disable hardware acceleration.

Click the ≡ Menu Button and choose Options.
    Click the Advanced icon.
    Click the General tab.
Uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available".
    Restart Firefox.
This issue appears to be specific to old ATI graphics drivers and Firefox 33.0b7.

hmm okay then if you could provide what type of operating system you have,
what kinda graphics card, and what browser and version you are using it would help to look for answers

Firefox shows a black screen or blank screen after updating to 33

Firefox version 33 includes a new feature called Off Main Thread Compositing (OMTC) which is a faster way of loading webpages. This new feature can cause a black or blank screen on some systems when starting Firefox or after visiting some sites.

Mozilla has released an updated version of Firefox that fixes the problem. If you can use Firefox, see Update Firefox to the latest version for update instructions. If you can't use Firefox, you can download and install the latest Firefox version from www.mozilla.org using Internet Explorer or another browser.

Alternatively, you can follow these steps to get Firefox working:

Close any Firefox windows that may be open.
Press the Shift key while starting Firefox. The Firefox Safe Mode window will open.
Click the Start in Safe Mode button to enter Safe Mode.
If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode, turn off hardware acceleration and then start Firefox in normal mode.

Problem is all the browsers are showing the same problem on my PC. :/

Also the screen's not really black. There's a black layer covering the image below.

When I open and close the background customization function, I can see my whole background image there for a few seconds, then I see the black layer coming up and covering it.

Because of it, the forum's been a little slower to load.

It is like that with Firefox, Chrome and IE on this computer but not on my Mom's netbook.

i've also read that flash player may cause this issue or GNU issues...but I'm not certain how to resolve it if its GNU

but you should update all your web browsers, clear all cache and cookies and disable hard ware acceleration and then restart you computer

also are you having this issue on other websites or just this one? and if you log out of the AF forum does the issue still persist?

I did most of the above, except for updating Firefox.

I don't know what GNU is though. ^^'

The problem's just on AF Forum. :/

I wonder if it could be caused by an update on my bank account website a few days ago? But even if it is, I don't know how to fix it though.
